Well, if you haven't read it already, please check out my new article/reflection about writing for four months! You can read the reflection HERE.
This month I made $X,XXX. I block it out because it is a staggering jump in revenue form advertising, marketing and affiliate sales.
I've been approached by multiple sources to advertise on the site, but I'm actually turning down requests. The success has been astonishing, but also speaks to the power of Google.
Read the article to see what happened when Google started ranking my site ahead of others!

Congratulations – this is a massive achievement. If you would be comfortable sharing, what percentage of your total traffic is coming in from your Mastercard review? Why do you think google has ranked you so high? Is it keyword density? Backlinks? Something else?

FI,
It's unclear to me what exactly set me up to do so well. I think a lot of it had to do with the length of the article and use of the credit card keyword. Alas, I didn't set out to create an SEO post – nor have I ever. Just focused on content.
Something worked…
Thanks for commenting on the site!

What does $X,XXX stand for? And what is the breakout between affiliate revenue and advertising?

Well, I'm currently getting either a database error or a timeout when trying to access your site, so maybe a little too popular?
I'll check it out hopefully after it comes back online.

The first rule of Fight Club is: You do not talk about Fight Club.
Congrats to your success, but I would strongly suggest to guard some of the keywords that you're ranking for. Especially for a high payout affiliate product.
I made this same mistake when I started and within a few weeks I saw several posts all targeting the exact keyword that I shared was getting me good amounts of traffic and conversions.
Just my $.02.

Jeff,
Thanks for the tip. One question: Aren't all keywords public, in your source code? Can't anybody see what keywords you use? This is VERY public information that Google is searching for. :)
LaTisha,
$X,XXX stands for a four-figure payday that I'm keeping semi-private. It's a lot.
Thanks everyone for the support!

LaTisha,
Great question; albeit, to say that percentage would divulge the true value. :)
I'll just say that the adsense/ad earnings were about $25 of the four-figure total.
The affiliate sales were everything to this value.
Hope that helps,
-S.

Sam,
I think Jeff is talking about not giving away your post to the forum. I can go to that post, understand the keyword you are targeting, then come back and write a post on my blog. If I do a little work and outrank your article, then you lose a good amount of your affiliate revenue. Just moving a few spots down will decrease your revenue by a great deal.
Google knows the keyword, but no one here would have known about that post being so highly ranked. If we all have that same affiliate offer, then we can go and get it and build a post around it. We all like to help each other, but you don't want to bring unwanted competition to your money maker….

To Jeff's point, it took me just two minutes to identify the exact key word that you're ranking higher on. So keep in mind the term "trade secret"..
