I was waiting to see this come to an end. I do think guest blogging on sites that are popular is still a great way to get traffic and recognition. You just need to pay attention to all of those emails for people looking for free posts.

Agree with Grayson. If you have a great post that contributes value to my site and showcases your skill – send it my way. Oh, and I just had a guest post published on PT Money that is making a bit of a splash at the moment. Check it out here if you have five minutes.

Thank you so much for sharing this update! Long time coming…
I would imagine that the webspam team is looking for certain links to knock a site down in Google pagerank. Be wary of those spammers! :)

I stopped accepting guest posts months ago. The reason was because I was starting to get get targeted by SEO companies who were obviously getting paid to submit guest posts. This made me nervous as it was starting to look like paid links on my site, even though I wasn't receiving a penny!

Good riddance – I look forward to not parsing through poorly spelled emails every morning from "long time readers of your site http://www.dqydj.net".

I think Matt Cutts said it best:
In general I wouldn’t recommend accepting a guest blog post unless you are willing to vouch for someone personally or know them well.
Both Cutts and Mueller have also said that if you do guest post, you should probably use "nofollow" links.

I'm looking for editors, beta-readers, and some demographic research for my upcoming novel, Once Upon a Saturn Moon. If you like reading soft sci-fi thrillers, maybe with a touch of romance thrown in, you can find more information at http://seampublishing.com/once…..aturn-moon

Would be nice to get less spam emails!
I spoke to a couple Google folks about this and they feel it's just Matt's fun way of messing with SEOs who always take things too far. We all know this from all the solicitations we get.
Great guest posts are great!
