Just signed up for the challenge today.  My Alexa ranking is 7,755,326.   Now tell me (and be honest), have you seen an Alexa ranking higher than that?  I doubt it.  lol   Smile

Mine was 10 million when I joined the challenge last year. And when I rebranded in late July, I started over on my new domain at 17 million. So please don't feel bad!

Welcome, Debtkiller. I'm new around these parts as well and have found this community to be full of lovely members who always are willing to lend a hand.

My Alexa started at 3.5 million and has decreased astoundingly fast. Focusing on your blog and the community here will yield amazing results. Let me know if you need anything–it took me a while to become acquainted with all the various aspects of Yakezie (and I'm still learning!)

I fell so fast and hard I needed to go to the emergency room. In 41 days I was below 200k. Ouch. :)

Absolutely!  I'm not trying to be better than anyone, but I would like to improve, simply for myself.

Lol, when I started blogging and knew to check my ranking it was at 2.5 million. I didn't even know it could go higher than that! Now I'm down to 426K which is pretty awesome. I've got a couple months left of the challenge, not sure if I'll make it to 200K or not, but even dropping as much as I have has been pretty freaking awesome! So don't worry about that 7.8 million, it'll come down fast — we all promise :-)

Nice!!!   Well, I checked today and I'm at 5,108,036.  I've dropped 2.6 million in the last few days.  I guess it's that Yakezie Magic mentioned above.

With that being said, how accurate is Alexa?  I find it hard to believe that my little blog (which has only been around for two months) is the 5,108,036th most popular website.  Makes me wonder….

Alexa ranking drops when other people that have the toolbar installed visit the site. So not super accurate.

And my ranking was 16,179,160 when I started this year on May 1st, so don't worry, you'll drop fast! :)

It will drop and also rise as people visit, but no Alexa isn't necessarily a sign of blogging success. It just shows you've been working your butt off.

Huh…very interesting.  I never really understood how much goes into blogging, and for that matter, I never really appreciated the art that it is.  I have a lot to learn.

Me and you both Debtkiller. I think the key is persistence. There does appear to be Yakzie magic as well.
