So far my blog was worth $1 on money crasher, today it went to $175 (i am not seeling at that price ). Before I spend time on understanding the formula and assumptions, let me ask, does any body know about it already? How reliable it is.

This is one thing I don't focus on that much, but if I remember right, this is the SEO value. In other words, they value your site based on how much search traffic it generates. The more content you write and the more you pay attention to SEO, the higher your dollar amount should go.

For better guidance on blog values, you may want to search for some posts by Yakezie members on buying/selling blogs. I know a few folks have made some transactions along those lines. Like anything, values are based on what terms actual buyers and sellers agree to, vs an algorithm. For example, I wouldn't ever sell my blog for the paltry $965 "value" they show:)
Glad you brought this up, as I noticed they are missing some data for my blog. Will have to let them know. They seem like good folks over there.

The question for me is who cares…Take it from someone that has purchased 12 or so blogs a blog is only worth the amount that someone is willing to buy it.
That number could read $10K and I promise you that you'll have a tough time finding someone that will give you the 10K especially after most blog writers let their blog die down for months before selling.

I like your point! I really don't pay attention to this number much, but it helps to know how well I'm doing on my SEO.

SEMRush's tool is calculated by taking the top 20 keywords on your site, and multiplying them by the adwords value on Google for that particular term.
This is misleading in several ways:
1) Buying the keyword on Google is pricier than buying the same keyword on Adsense sites.
2) Adsense payouts are roughly 70% of the amount an advertiser spends.
3) It does not take into consideration the value of a visitor who views more than 1 page.
Number 3 is particularly important. If you rank for an entertainment keyword like "Jennifer Aniston," which is low value, then you'll see a low value on SEMRush. However, if a visitor comes to your site from a .10 keyword like "Jennifer Aniston" then navigates to a page about "student loan consolidations," which is a high paying keyword, obviously that click is worth far more than the 10 cent price as calculated by SEMRush.
I have a site in six-figures in SEMRush. If anyone offered to pay me that much money for the site, I'd call them nuts, take their money and laugh all the way to the bank.

Thanks JT for the thorough explanation. I haven't given this that much thought either but if I ever want to sell I will know how to go about it.

Interesting but I think it's very flawed. I have never considered selling my site but I'm pretty sure it's worth more than the $57 that SEMrush says, considering that I get more than that for any ad deal I close. Whatever :)

I don't know how the SEO value is really calculated but I can tell you that it's VERY far from being the truth ;-)
For example, The Dividend Guy Blog is listed at $464…. I make between $1,500 to $2,000 per month with this site so this number doesn't mean anything.
I wouldn't worry too much about how much your SEO value worth… it's really just a number thrown in the air!

So I guess you wouldn't sell it to me for $465?
I never pay attention to numbers like that, either. I see a lot of potential in my sites, that wouldn't show up on any report!

Passive? DividendGuyBlog? NO CHANCE – Mike seems to work his ass off. His empire is pretty much a small business
