I've noticed a phenomena lately.  Lots of Yakezie members' posts have been picked up and republished by MSN Money.  Have you gotten a bump in traffic and didn't know why?  I sure did.  It was because MSN linked to Sandy L at First Gen American and she had linked to me.  I followed the trail back and violá, lots of personal finance posts from Yakezie members.

So blog away, have great content that resonate with people and your post just might end up somewhere that you never expected it to land.  My heartfelt post on growing up poor not only inspired other bloggers, but has hit a nerve with many people.  It has surpassed every other post for the past two years as the most popular so far. Second runner up is about my tenant from hell.

Speaking of my tenant from hell, if you have a story about a roommate, tenant, landlord, or neighbor from hell, pop over to mytenantfromhell.com, register and submit your story!  I need some new ones.  Shameless plug, I know.

Congrats Sandy! I bet that was a good spike! Can you share the link to the post on MSN?

You would have thought that I would remember the link, right?  Sigh.

I was fortunate to be contacted by them as well, and had a Squirreling Gone Wild post included on MSN Money today!

I saw that!  You must be rolling in the traffic.  :)  The post was really good.  I was waiting for you to say that someone caught up to that couple.

Oh, I caught up to that couple alright! I'm sure they've figured out what I think of them, though I'm equally sure that they're still the same way….

That's what's great about our increasingly populous planet – there are many different people to meet that are good, honest folks! And hey, if nothing else, maybe someone was entertained by my dealings with them……

Awesome posts guys! MSN is the number 11 Alexa ranked site! Bet that traffic spike is nice! And you said they just used a post that was already on your site?

Jacob, they just reached out and asked if they could publish that specific post. They did this last year too, with an out of the blue email request to publish a specific post. It was all fine with me!

Traffic bump isn't what you might think – last time I got maybe 200 or so total visits from that post. But I'm sure the high quality link helps in other ways. Besides, it's just cool to be given the opportunity regardless of traffic!

We need more of that. I'm not totally sure how my blog post (The 5 Most Financially Dangerous Haters...) was found, but I'm sure glad it was. Maybe Fox and CNN should take a look at the Yakezie forums.

I'm hoping to get more publicity by having my site linked to in popular online publications.

Has anyone had much success with HARO (Help a Reporter Out)? Are there other services out there that do the same thing? I've been trying to be more consistent with responding to journalist's queries.
