you can change your identity and open a new account ;-)
seriously, I think that some of your "friends" might have clicked too much on your ads… Any possibility you can have your account reinstated at one point?
google is pretty strict when it comes to adsense, that's too bad ;-(

4 months! Feels great :)
That is a crazy fast start for a new blog. TFB may be right – too many pals/family may have been trying to help you out.

I think that you might be allowed 2 accounts. One business account with business EIN, business name as the payee, etc and one personal with just your personal information. If one is banned it doesn't ALWAYS mean that the other will be too. I have everything with the big G under business name, address, etc.
Now here is a problem that I have encountered. I've gotten 8(!!!!!!) invalid clicks in the last 2 days, 9 in the past 3. This is more invalid clicks than in the last 9 years COMBINED. I don't know how to trace these clicks back. Any clues anyone? The only thing I know is that the clicks ALL went to the ad in my header.

I always feel like it is never a good idea to depend on Adsense. You never know when Google will pull the rug out from under you.

Just a theory here, but could any of you be getting scraped with your adsense code intact? In other words, another site is stealing an article and the clicks are coming from there?

You can always open a business account, though I think you will need a new address to use for any new websites you might start in the future. However, I do not think you can link it to a website that has already been banned.
Personally, I am sorry the Yahoo Publishing Network did not seem to survive. I would have much rather used them than Google.

How do you know if you get invalid clicks?

From what I've been told, an invalid click, is a click with no revenue.

I linked my Adsense to my Analytics. I can see how many clicks I received and to which articles plus revenue from each article. If the total clicks showed 18 like yesterday, but in the details it only accounts for payment for 2 links, then I know that 16 were invalid…which was what happened yesterday.
Also, all of my ad blocks are labeled with custom channels, so I can tell which ad block is being clicked (header vs. top bar within post, versus bottom wide banner within post on bottem, etc.). It helps me to pinpoint exactly which ad block is being abused. Something was grossly wrong since it was one single ad block which typically gets the lowest number of clicks being clicked at a rate that is 6x higher than normal and having not a single one count.
I ended up disabling that ad block last night when it reached 16 clicks. I'm glad that I do monitor the number of clicks that I receive in a day. I'd hate to pop in at the end of a month to find a click fraud notice from Google. This way I was able to have countermeasures as soon as I realized what was going on.
I'd still love to be able to trace back who was clicking on the links, but privacy policies are in place for just that purpose.

Sandy, make sure that you report that immediately to Google using their Fraudulent Click reporting. Otherwise, they may still try and ban you even though you disabled the ad block. They will always look for ways not to pay people!

Thanks for the explanation!
Slightly off topic, but does anyone else get nervous when you have a particularly good Adsense day? Back in April, I had one day earn me around $8. My overall average per day is around $0.40 so I was waiting to hear from Google that a mistake had been made or click fraud was the reason.

I miss Yahoo Publisher too. It was a solid network.

Yes I filed an appeal, sad days indeed. Adsense was ugly anyways, good riddance! TBH, it was making me lazy depending on one source of income. I'm going to spin this as a positive thing going forward!

I took it that way too. But after earnings, I have already been working on that. So I didn't as bad as I should have felt :) but still it was a very easy and lucrative income.

It really doubt that it's in the big G's best interest to not pay people. I'm pretty sure part of the reason products like Blogger and Gmail exist is to have platforms for adsense. When they have to pay more it means more ad inventory is getting filled and more advertisers pay ad revenue. Just sayin'.

Do you know where the clicks were going? It could be that with algo changes you had an article that did better that day.

I had one week where I made almost $100, something took normally 3-6 months at the time. I waited pretty much expecting them to disable me, but they sent over the check and everything has been great. Looking back, I think it was around the time that Groupon was taking off, and I might have written an article about them, so that might have worked out pretty well considering. What I've seen is that, just like with all else Google, it is all a big mystery.
