I started blogging because I wanted to help my family and friends. In 2007 and 2008, I watched the stock market get top heavy and then drop… and then I heard from so many about how they lost significant amounts of capital. 18%, 24%, even plus 30%…
Of course, fear takes over too… and at the very depth of the crisis is when some of these wounded people pull out and walk away. Unfortunately, if they did that in 2008, they still likely would not be "recovered" to the pre 2009 levels. Now, especially with the recent market movements, I'm moved again to try to help… to get the word out that there is a better way to invest.
Then, I found Yakezie… and I saw the aim to selflessly help others and I loved the challenge… to help others and how in return, that helps everyone involved. My first two days have been great… and gruelling. It started well… I appreciate the welcome I received… and then my hard drive crashed yesterday and the computer died. Today, I sit here trying to restart, rearrange, etc.
Thanks to all who have already been an encouragement over the first two days… I can't wait to see what day three will bring!

You're welcome Dr. Stock! The Yakezie member was a great experience for me too, and I do everything I can to make it a great experience for others.

As Derek said, it's been a great experience for a lot of us. Not to mention that success that many of us have seen is just amazing, I can guarantee that a personal finance blog without the Yakezie would have to wait much much longer to see similar results.

Thanks. Yes, I'm interested to see if people participate with comments related to my posts. I hear that helps the numbers?

Well it shows that people are dropping by, but many will view your articles and not comment too.

Haha… thanks! I tend to bookmark everyone's site that comments and visit theirs to do the same. I also joined a summer group… so we'll see how it goes. It's fun so far.

Thanks… I suspect you're right. In fact, I'll be able to let you know because I've been doing it "on my own" for about a year with little results.

I think most of us agree that this group is the best thing that has happened to most of our sites. It creates a support group of sorts that keeps you motivated through the tough times. Welcome and best of luck.

On another note, if you are looking for more comments and interaction on your site, you might want to try the plugin commentluv…many of us Yakezie use it. It adds incentive for more people to post.

You've been busy in those 2 days! I've seen your comments on several of our sites. Good luck with your hard drive crash.
I too blogged for several months before joining the challenge. I got Alexa down to around half a million (before joining) but it took 8 months. In the 5 months I've been invovled with this group, it has dropped to 144,083. I'm shooting for 100K now!
The support and knowledge base is great!

Doc, welcome to the Yakezie gang. My suggestion is to be consistent. That is how you will make sure your numbers fall and fall in the Alexa rank and your network grows and grows, which is the real key to success in the blogging world.
I did my first six months strong, then disappeared for about 5 months. Once I returned everyone welcomed me back with open arms, but I lost all that momentum and success I had worked so hard to gain.
This is why my suggestion is for you to stick with it. Don't quit, you will find the rewards you seek!
Best of luck to you and YAKEZIE!

Thanks so much… my computer has set me back my first week for sure… but I've almost got it back in order. I'm looking forward to this next week! Thanks for the encouragement

Thanks Freddie… that sounds like solid advice. I'm doing my best to be consistent… and with quality too! Cheers.
