Hey fellow Yakezie's,
I have a new site that I will soon be entering into the challenge but am just finishing the setup and making sure it's all running in the right direction.
It's about running so I guess will be "lifestyle" related.
Anyway here is my intro post. I would love feedback on that and on the layout etc etc and what you feel the site needs.
http://regularrunner.com/welco…..unner-com/
Thanks a million,
Forest.

I like it! It has a nice clean look to it and is complimented by a nice logo. I look forward to seeing it develop.

Very cool! I love the header/logo!
That app you have on the side from Runkeeper is also very cool. Looking forward to seeing your new posts – I need a little motivation to get back into running…lol

Forest I would rather give you a negative feedback on the font you used, this font is most suitable for sites on scientific research. for a blog with athletic theme fonts should be bigger and easy flowing, font on yakezie forum is more suited.
Also the white look doesn't go with a dynamic subject like running.
Logo is in-fact good, you must have hired that work and did the rest yourself..right?

Forest -
I like the logo a lot, it looks really good. Well done. I'm curious how/where you got it created. Also, I do like the white background.
Changes I would make would be to the font (too small, not crisp looking), and maybe add a little more color overall.

I love the look of it overall, but I can't tell if the sidebar is the sidebar, or if the site is split into two columns. I hope that makes sense. Since the right side gets wider after the image, I am extremely confused.

I like the look of the site Forest. I have to agree with 1Cent, I think a larger cleaner font might go better with the overall look of the site.
Run Forest, Run! Couldn't resist.

It's really difficult on the eyes… I don't know where to focus…go with everyone's suggestion on choosing a clearer font. Are all your posts going to be in this format?

@20sFinances, thanks :)
@The Penny Hoarder, thanks, you should follow along and maybe just get back into it. If you do go for a run and fancy writing a guest post about your first experience back feel free to write one for the site. Obviously you'll get a byline.
@SavingMentor, thanks, that is what I am aiming for.
@OneCentAtATime, thanks, positive and negative feedback are both as useful. The font has been updated, had quite a few complaints on that. I am keeping the clean and white look for now but will be looking at injecting a little more color. I did it all myself.
@Squirrelers, thanks. I am not 100% happy with the logo yet, was just a quick concept I came up with to start the site with. I think you are right about a touch more colour. I made a change to the font.
@SoOverDebt, I can change formats post to post, you can see a more conventional one on the About Page. To make the intro a little less confusing I moved the image down a bit so it doesn't just jump. On the welcome post the sidebar actually sits below.
@DebtEye, is it looking any better now?
@TonyChou, oh no!!! What browser was you using and what operating system?
Thanks everyone.

Cool idea. Good luck. As always, let me know if you need any help. I am no running expert, but I will always help a Yakezie friend where I can.

Congrats on the new site. Love the site. I really like the layout and graphics. I too used to be a runner so if you ever want a guest poster let me know.

I like it. Great lifestyle theme too. I'm throwing around some ideas for a cycling blog, and would be happy to build a community at Yakezie.

I saw that yesterday and was about to comment on the font, looks like you have already changed it. I was a little confused about the side bars though. I was not sure if the "Finally I made it up the hill, no stopping, not a lot of speed either but I made it," is part of the post or that will stay there (like an abbreviated About section). I don't know if that make sense?
You might also want to move the social buttons to somewhere above the fold?
Other than that it is great!

Thanks Miss T :), you should lace up and get out again.
Thanks Hunter. Yeah I would be in for that….
Hey Suba, that was just the beginning of the post. I just used the full width for the welcome but seems to be confusing a lot of people. A more conventional layout has been used for my first real post: http://regularrunner.com/my-first-run-at-thirty-working-out-goals/

Chrome. And it's weird, because no one else seems to be having this problem.

I really like the layout. If you added a thin line or 2 to separate the sections, that might help keep the reader focused a little better.

Like others, I like the logo. In Firefox and Safari, the font was a little small and a bit hard to read.
