Hello.

Welp, now that's out of the way, I feel better Smile

My name's Jacob, and I'm addicted to personal finance! Ever since my brother-in-law dropped a Dave Ramsey CD in my lap a month before I got married, I've been hooked. I got on a budget, got married, paid off $20,000+ in debt, saved some cash and bought a house by age 24!

It's not all roses and sunshine, though (mostly because I live in Seattle). We still have debt and our house value dropped significantly, putting us underwater. We downsized from two incomes to one, and are on a mission to get in the black every month.

I'm excited to join the blogging community soon. I have about 20 topics already planned, and can go on and on for days about personal finance. I still need to come up with a blog name and mantra, and then purchase the domain, setup the webpage, etc… My expertise is in budgeting, thrifty spending, and tax (I'm a tax guy). Hoping to be posting soon after this crazy tax season ends. I do look to monetize my venture at some point, but for now, just want to dive in head first and see how the water is!

All that to say….Hello. I'm excited to join this community, and look forward to learning a TON!

Hi Jacob and welcome!

You sound a bit like me – I found Dave Ramsey around 5-6 years ago and have been working my tail off to get out of debt ever since.

It sounds like you've really turned your life around (financially) and it will be exciting to read some of your insight/knowledge on what you've learned.

Best of luck finding a domain name! Just a tip that I learned: don't get caught up in it too much to the point that you don't make a decision. It's better to be out there and pushing out content than to be sitting on the sideline thinking of ideas for forever.

@Nick: Thanks for the reply! Hoping to destroy more debt once my income is up!

@WorkSaveLive: Thanks for the kind words. I definitely did a 180-degree turn financially after listening to some good ol' DR! Once of my blog topics is literally "How I blew over $100k by age 20 (and what I SHOULD have done)". As far as the domain goes, I'm hoping to keep it general, but I do think it sets the tone for all my posts and the direction for the blog. I hope to think of one soon, but c'mon, it's easy for you to say with an awesome blog name like yours Wink

LOL. I'm pretty sure I couldn't have come up with a more boring name than I did. Some of the others around here have some creative/awesome names.

Married with Debt, Financial Samurai, See Debt Run, Budgeting in the Fun Stuff…etc… those are way more awesome than work save live?

It's all good, I'm not creative. I like numbers. Creativity is overrated. lol.

But WorkSaveLive encompasses so much and is a great mantra to follow. Maybe it's just my opinion, but I really like how simple it is, but how true it rings in my own life.

Diggin' the site, btw :)

Thanks! I didn't know how active this forum was and just started jumping right in. I've definitely been a part of many other types of forums, so I'm not shy Smile. I'm loving clicking on everyone's sites and reading through your blogs. Do you have a favorite way of keeping track of all these blogs, or do you just use the "Favorites" toolbar? There are so many, I don't think I have enough hours in the day to keep up!

Welcome aboard Jacob, the way I keep track of everyones sites is through my.yahoo.com.  Unfortunately the google reader doesnt work at my job because the email police block everything.

@ College Investor: Thanks for the welcome :)

@ Dividend Ninja: Thanks DN. I've been reading a bit of your blog. Dividend stocks seem like a great place to park some of my savings… :)

@ MBA: Thanks for the heads up. I think I'll fire up my google reader (been a few years), or just RSS into my Outlook :)

@ Parenting: Thanks! Smile

@ Smart Wealth: Thanks SW. Yes, DR has a major influence on me, but I have definitely deviated from "the plan". I'm excited to start putting my experiences on digital paper :)

@ 1 Percent: Thanks! Seems like a great place to hang out. I'm hoping to learn as I go.

@ jefferson: Thanks for the encouragement! I may have thought of a name, and the domain is available, so we'll see. I'm still in the midst of 60-70 hour weeks with my full-time job and tax preparation. But I will probably purchase the domain soon.

@ Krantcents: Thank you! Smile
