Hey people!
I'm almost done with my new site and I wanted to share it with you:
What is Dividend
I'd like to know what should be added in term of content for young dividend investors?
I have about 15 more articles in queue to be published about dividend strategies and broker reviews.
Tell me,
what do you like
what you don't like
You can tell me everything that passes through your mind, I'm willing to take critics ;-D

My first thought on the first page load was:
Wow, lots of text to read. Hard to focus.
I realized that I really needed to focus to read the sidebar links since a lot of the words are the same. Just a first impression on landing.
The article headers are REALLY big. A little too big. The ones Intelligent Speculator uses (since you have the same template) are not that heavy on the eye.
Not sure if you are going to make it a niche and contribute often but the section on the right could possibly be layed out more with one question with bullet point links as opposed to just a list of questions with the same keywords. (Might be intentional to use all the same keywords in all the links but it's really hard to read).
You really have a good set of basic content to provide information on dividends in one place. Makes me think of investopedia but for dividends at the moment.

Ya, the text really dominates.
One thing I took from your advice about H1 tags was to alter the text size of my H tags to make them smaller to the reader but still H1 or H2 to the big G.
I was advised to get rid of my full page format by some bigger CDN bloggers – makes it easier to read, such as PIE stated.
The only other thing is that What is Dividend isn't grammatically correct. I find it hard to say aloud.

@PIE,
yeah… you are right about the text size! I have changed it.
The long list of questions are intentional… those are the keywords I am looking for… not sure how I can modify it.
I was also trying to include a lot of content on my first page as it will remain as my homepage. This will be a niche website so once I'm done with the content, I should not add anything else.
What if I take off the end of the article where I list all my articles? is it better now?
The goal of the site is to be informational, so if it looks like an investopedia for dividend investing, this is good news ;-)
@SPF,
I know it's not grammatically correct but it is the keyword I'm aiming (It's a bit weird but, hey! I'm listening to google ;-) ).
thx for your feedback! I hope the modifications made it nicer. I'll try to work out something for the sidebar links…

I punch "what is dividend" or "dividend" into the google keyword tool and I don't see this pop (at least on a U.S. keyword search).
I think (I guess i'm being converted some) that playing to Google all the time sometimes comes off looking sloppy. I checked your "Top 10 Dividend Blogs" link and all of those titles make sense to me. This one does not.
Got the same advice about the use of H1 as they are sized naturally – too big, too bold, too overbearing. And while using the keyword in the headings can work it can also be over done. Finding the balance is key (from those "big guys" who took some time to critique my site (one even unsolicited lol)). It was suggested I work at variations of my keywords (that are still attractive) and get them into the text more naturally without sounding like i'm a google lap dog.
But i'm just a $50 (on a good) month noob at blogging. If you like how ya do things just ignore me :)

I didn't feel the text was too big, but I guess you have already changed it. But I do feel there is a LOT of text, esp. as there are no margins or whatever they are called. It is a little difficult to read. Also I felt some pages look a little spammy, mainly because there isn't much content yet (like the dividend resources page) and I have 3 ad blocks and 3 other ads for 1 para of text. I understand that page will grow, may be you could take one ad sense off until there is enough information to push it below the fold? just my 2c. And as SPF said, I am a newbie blogger as well, so if you like how it is right now and if it works for you… ignore me :)

@SPF,
I'm not surprised that I am not ranking yet – the site is 1 month old and not even indexed in Google ;-). I have not done any promotions or put any links toward this site before this week. I hope it will work out though, I'll let you know ;-)
@Suba,
thx for your feedback, I'll try to work on my layout and take off a few adsense code where I don't have much text yet!

Info is great and comprehensive. Agree with other commenters. It's hard to read and a bit info intensive. More blank space and a bit less dense.
Great topic with solid info categories.
good luck

This may be the same thing others are saying…I don't think I like the typography little too text-bookish

Good topic. Agree w/ the other commenters in that the reading is a little too wide, and the text a little small, or at least that's the way it comes off to me in Firefox.

thx for your feedback! it's very helpful!
I'll try to work on the text size and spacing to make it easier to read.
I'll try to find a way to make it more "fun" to read too but the purpose is really to educate people about dividend investing… not sure how I can do it. Any idea?

A few of those articles look familiar ;)
Good job with the site TFB. I agree with the others on the layout seeming cluttered and tough to navigate, but the content you gathered is top notch.
I would play around with the design to take better advantage of white space and open up the page a bit. Once you do that, you have a winner on your hands.

we took the same design ;-)

I would. I don't like text to the edge of the screen. It makes it more of a chore to read.

I did have a look to compare because I did not remember IS giving me that impression. What I think is different is that IS has images on the top right which reduces the amount of words to focus on. Have you tried merging the 2 columns into one? It might just need a little more space to breath.
