Hello! I tweaked my site a little last night. Specifically, I redid my logo to give it a cleaner look, and I moved my Facebook/RSS/Subscriber icons to the right of the logo. Can some of you web savy folks out there give me your honest opinions?
Also, I broke 1,000,000 (Alexa) today! Woo hoo! Two weeks ago I was at close to 5 Million so to be at 943,154 is pretty exciting to me. My next goal is 500,000… wish me luck!
The thing is, despite a dropping Alexa ranking, my subscriber count and daily visitors is not increasing as fast as I would like. Any advice on how I can get these numbers up? I offer a daily tip on my site which, I would think, would drive subscriptions but that doesn't seem to be the case. Right now I at at 3,000 page views a month and trending toward 5,000 for March. I would like to get this up to about 10,000 by end of April.

I like it a lot. Traffic will increase with time. Alexa drops fast but traffic goes up slowly. You will notice it eventually. Be patient.

Thanks! I am pretty happy with the look now but I am still fighting with Blogger on eliminating the space between the header and the page tabs. Grrr…
Good advice about being patient. Problem is… I have no patience! :)

Woo hoo… after days of fighting with the code I just fixed the spacing issue. (Ignore me as I go pat myself on the back. :) )

I think the new logo is an improvement on the old one. Also, increasing the focus on your subscription icons should allow you to get more followers quickly. Nice work!

I didn't get to see your old logo, but I like the one in the header of your site. So if that's the new one, I like it!
As for increasing your traffic, it's taken me a long time (1.5 years!) to build my traffic up to an average of 190 visitors a day. I'm constantly trying things to increase traffic, some have worked. Here's a short list:
- Keep commenting on other's blogs
- tweet your own posts and share them on facebook
- comment in PF forums
- guest post
- write up a press release (this is one I'm currently working on, so I can't say it's a tried and true method quite yet. Press releases need to be news worthy, so if you have some news to share, use a free press release site.)
I'll be the first to admit that networking is time consuming, but it does eventually pay off.

I would leave Blogger and move to Wordpress. That will give you 100% control of the design and allow more SEO.

I really like the logo and the clean design. Follow Eric's advice and leave blogger for WordPress!

I agree. Move to Wordpress. I did and I like the flexibility much better. I really like the new header! Nice and clean.

Header looks good – count me in for the move to Wordpress! I started on blogger 3 years ago, and only after i moved did my traffic skyrocket. :)

Why do you think your traffic improved after switching from Blogger?

Don't get me wrong, I don't think the switch from blogger to wordpress was the sole or even main reason why my traffic went up at that time. a lot of folks are able to create high traffic blogs using blogger. For me, however, i just found that WordPress was much more flexible in the things that it allowed me to do, made making site changes easier, allowed me to give my site a more custom look, and in general made for a more pleasing experience for me – and for readers. It allowed me to take the focus off of tinkering with my site all the time, and onto important things like creating good content.
