I changed my theme to Thesis for 2012.
Mainly, I would like to speed up the site just a bit by removing some plugins.
I also like the typography a lot more than the previous theme.
The big layout change I made was to move from 2 columns to 3. I moved most of the banners to the left column now.
Can I get some feed back? Let me know what I can do to improve the look and feel of the site.
Retire By 40
I'm still learning Thesis.
Thanks & Happy New Year!!!

I think it looks good. It's a first draft of the new look that will improve throughout your blogging. As a photographer I would say change the header photo with one that I make for you. Free of course.
Congrats and happy new year.

Would you mind emailing me (or posting here) about how you transferred from Atahualpa and note things I should be looking out for if we make the switch as well?

Hi SPF,
I made a test subdomain and tested the new theme there.
The transfer from Atahualpa was mostly painless. The sidebars didn't get screwed up when I changed theme. I have had sidebar wiped out during theme changes before.
I just had to note down all the custom header and footer codes and move them to Thesis' section.
They just do things differently so I had to familiarize myself with the new theme.
It will take a while to learn Thesis, but at least I have pretty much all the same elements back up.

It is looking good but the header I think needs work. The picture and the text seem mis-matched and and I am not too keen on the colours of the text anyway.
I have been thinking about doing something about the look of my blog. What made you move to Thesis?

I like it. It looks clean. I think the header might need to freshen up, but the site overall looks great.

I think I remember the old theme, and I must say this new one is an improvement. Everything is easy to find and logically placed.
It took me over a month to find a theme I liked, and I was surprised at how motivating it is to post when you like the look of your site.

I like the new site design. I am a huge fan of 3 columns as well – but I can see how 2 works well too on certain sites.
For one small piece of (constructive) criticism:
I haven't used Thesis, but I would suggest altering the main menu (it looks like every other Thesis blog) – This doesn't have to be a huge priority, but it would make your site look even more unique.
Good luck in the new year!

Great move, Joe! I may be moving Invest It Wisely soon, but I will need to learn the new theme and set things up nicely.

This looks really good, RB40! Looking at this gets me one step closer to deciding on a theme change too…

Looks great!
By the way install the Thesis Openhooks plugin (its free)… combine that with a thesis hook map (like this one) and it makes using thesis SO MUCH easier

Nice job on the new theme RB40! Looks good and loaded pretty quick. I use Thesis myself and have been happy with it. A 3 column design sure can hold a lot more than 2 and fills up the page well.

Thanks for the input. I'll work on the header when I have a chance, but it's very difficult to find the right one.

Thanks Corey. I'll work on the Nav bar. I made it look like the what I had previously to minimize visual changes.
I will continue to update the look throughout the year. I think I need to buy some kind of graphic program to help with all this. I'm still short on time though…

Thanks Ray. I couldn't find the right typography with Atahualpa and that was one of the big reason I changed.
The text is much easier on the eye now.

Thanks! I will mess around with that plugin next weekend.
I'm still struggling with how to get the thumbnails to show up on the teasers…
Thesis has tons of choices and it's a bit overwhelming at first.
