Hello all, happy I found this place. I would like to get an opinion on a blog I would like to start. I have a passion for investing in stocks and learning to invest in stocks.
I am still a newbie to investing in stocks for about 3 years now. And I am doing well with my gains. I would like to blog about the stocks I believe is undervalued and have potential to make money. Also, I want to share my knowledge on stock market investing as I learn. And I learn a lot! I plan to discuss investing terminology and how to perform due diligence with making an investing decision. I want the blog to show how the average 40 hour working person can make money in stocks. For instance, I will show how I will use my cash (not alot, few thousand) to make an investment in a stock/company. I will keep my followers updated (my losses and gains) on my investments quarterly. I will also have a category on other ideas to make money that I plan to learn. When I am not writing about the stock trades I plan to execute, I will writing about potential stocks that are undervalued, how to invest, and just my personal thoughts as I work towards finical freedom. After, being laid off for 6 months and finally finding a job, I realize I better start thinking about ways to make money besides the normal 9 to 5 job. I’m bless to have a job, but generating a second income is an idea I think of daily. Hugh learning experience!!
Now here is what I am struggling with and need some advice. I am an engineer (31 yrs old) with limited knowledge on personal finance, investing in stocks, and blogging. So, I am still learning! Does this make me incapable of sharing advice about investing and personal finance? Can I share my views on different ways to make money? I want share my thoughts about anything that’s neither true nor poor quality. My blogs will contain well researched, analyzed, and ethical writings.
My reason for starting the blog is to share what I am learning, keep me focus on my investments, help someone else save/make money, and because I have a lot to write about money wise. Eventually, I want to generate a decent (a few hundred a month) income from blog through my blog. Also, I don't know much about advertisements, but I'm willing get many headaches learning. I have been reading on other personal finance and investing blogs and they offer great advice. Perhaps, I can do the same. I notice how each personal finance blogger support each other. Good job!
I am hoping to get some good honest advice and suggestions. I like the idea of The Yakezie Challenge and plan to join.
Thank you in advance.

If you wait until you know everything, you will be waiting for a long time :)
Just jump in and write what you know, your success, failures, what you learn… people will learn along with you. I don't think 99% of the personal finance bloggers who write are an expert in that field. We share what we know (if our understanding is wrong, someone will point it out. DOn't worry :) ). It is just the collective knowledge and the sharing that makes it worthy.
If you want to start, start now.

I'm in the "just jump in" category. I'm not an expert as anything, but being open, friendly, and fun has led me to where I am so far. :-) Good luck! Jump in!!!

Sounds like you have a good idea. I think "newbie" investors can make the best bloggers because as you learn you always have new things to say. Let me know if you need any help. I'm just an e-mail away.

I agree! Go for it! I am also an engineer, and personal finance is a hobby of mine. It actually gets more motivated to learn to know that I have an outlet (a blog) to publish my thoughts to.
Some of the best investing blogs I have read are http://barbarafriedbergpersona…..nance.com/, freemoneyfinance.com, and mymoneyblog.com. Take a look at those and read how they invest to get a feel for how to structure yours!

i'd say ready, then aim, then fire. . . but make sure you don't get stuck at any one stage for an extensive period of time. go with your gut when it says you are ready then just do it . . you can always go back and re-aim

Go for it. You don't have to know a lot to write about it – in fact those of us who are still learning often write the best posts. Heck, I've been writing about personal finance for 3 years now, and a lot of people might say I still know nothing. :)

Wow, I really appreciate all the advice. I really do!! Thank you all. I been missing for awhile due to long hours of work at my full-time job. Plus, I am rushing to build a website that may bring in some extra income via advertisements. Once this is done, I can get back to my passion of stock investing and researching. Meanwhile, I started keeping a list of topics I would like to discuss on my blog.
Again, thanks for all the motivation and I plan to communicate with you all again when I get started.
