Hi All,

I just wrote an article about why you should pay off your mortgage as quickly as possible. I'd love to hear all of the varying opinions on this!

Should You Pay Off The Mortgage ASAP?

Haha, I just wrote something for the opposite camp (I felt it was underrepresented as an opinion – I was wrong!).  I followed it up with some data on the inflation expectation/mortgage rate spread today if you're interested, but I'm headed over to reply.

I'm in PK's camp and I just wrote a post about this as well.

Should you pay off your mortgage if you could?

The bank is basically lending you money for free if you factor in inflation.

Left my 'two pennies worth' – I say 'no'.

I wouldn't. There are many investments that would bring a higher return, so unless the rates go up again, for now I am not overpaying.

In general, I agree, but I left a comment explaining why I am only paying my minimum for the time being.

I just commented on the post.

…I hate this question, mainly because I hate debt in any form, but I know that, historically speaking, it seems to make more sense to invest the cash elsewhere based on the mortgage rates available right now.
