I started out anonymous way back in the beginning but soon switched to my real name. I share some numbers (how much debt we've paid off, what we're paying for our kids' college, side job earnings) but no main income numbers. I also run things that might be sensitive past my husband to make sure he's okay with it. I've been quoted in magazines, written for U.S. News, and was a guest on the Today show, so my real name was necessary for all those things.

I use my nickname online, mainly because of my employer, whom I am fairly certain would not be supportive of my blogging or side hustling.

I use my first name and would consider using my full name later on down the road.

My compliance department requires us to submit any potential income producing side work. If I didn't and they found out, I could be banned for life.

I'm using a pen name right now.  In the past I used my real name, but I was hesitant to put it all out there.

I want to be more transparent about my finances:  current credit score, debt, income etc…and I wouldn't feel comfortable doing that unless I was semi-anon.  Also, I write about parenting, and since our son is in the process of foster to adoption I want to keep it private.

My plan is to "go public" in 3 years.  Hopefully we will have reached our goals to be out of debt by then, our son will be fully adopted…and outing myself will not matter as much.
