I've been on a hectic (but fun) pace posting at least every week day and lately a roundup on the weekend and have been "encouraged" by a number of bloggers to change the mix.
Basically they suggest posting 3 times per week (plus a roundup) on M-W-F format and spend the rest of the time I would posting the two additional posts to networking and monetizing. They suggest those two extra posts could be guest posts on other blogs, too, which is a good point.
I like the idea but am nervous about changing the mix but am intrigued by the idea, especially after seeing this: http://diythemes.com/thesis/ho…..your-blog/. Anyhow, I apparently have a lot to say although I imagine I could spend less and/or more focused time as long as I'm regularly updating the site.
I'd really appreciate any thoughts from the group.

M-W-F works. I post daily since that is how I started and what everyone is used to, but there are successful bloggers that post way less frequently!

When I started, I did M-F, then added Sat and Sun but recently took down Sun. I do a round-up on Saturdays. However, I have "daily" in my site name so not posting something as close to daily as possible makes my site name a little misleading. If you enjoy posting every day, then continue to do so. If you want to change it up, I think your readers will be accepting of that (I know that I will :)). I will say that even with posting every day, I've been able to guest post and all that other stuff. Then again, I don't work really long hours and have the flexibility to write a post at work if I need to.
On my other sites, I have less of a formal schedule and that works as well.
I'm sorry…that was a really long way of saying that you should do what works for you.

Lately, I have been giving up on a rigid schedule. I always post on Tues, Thurs, and once on the weekend. But lately, I have been posting Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thurs, weekend to try and boost the number of my articles on my site faster.
Ultimately, it's all about how much you can handle. I think 3x per week is the average for a good site. Something as little as 1x per week will make it difficult to grow. Good luck in making your decision.

I have been posting every 2 days. But am changing it starting next week where it will be M-W-F. I think that will work best. It also allows me to write the week's post during the weekend.

But you do feature a ton of guests posts, Crystal.. So it is always a nice mix.
I have a pretty sweet setup with my wife and I both posting, because we can alternate days (which works well).

I have had 5 day per week and 7 day per week schedules in the past, but post quality suffered. I am on M-W-F now experimenting with an "ask the readers Tuesday" (today was the first one: http://www.narrowbridge.net/ov…..ced-stuff/)

I am switching my schedule too. I think I am going with the M W F schedule as well. Things are picking up and I don't want to burn out.

Alright, I think I'm going to go w/ MWF. Thanks everyone for the advice. Sadly, no one said NOOOO Nick!!! Your blog is way too good to go to 3 posts per week!!! Haha, kidding. Tomorrow if my first postless Tuesday! Let's see if I survive, haha.
Oh, and thanks @eric for the link to the other thread (I really need to start searching before I start new threads…). That was very helpful too.

I think just post however many times you feel comfortable posting. I post 6 times a week usually.. sometimes 7. But I'm considering slowing down a bit too. I also network, and I don't want to get worn out and start resenting my blog!

I support the decision to scale down to 3 posts per week Nick. Your posts are awesome and I'd miss the extra posts, but you're right…it does limit the time you have for networking and link building. I think a MWF scheduled gives you the opportunity to build some deep links to each post and get a lot more active on other blogs.

I'm wanting to slow down with my posting as well. I post EVERYDAY, and sometimes that does get tiring.

Thanks again – yeah, it felt a bit odd not to have a post go live today, but it was a bit nice being able to network a bit more than I normally would and have a little extra time w/ the family.
And thanks @modestmoney for feeding the ego a bit :)

This is something I constantly struggle with and I think for me it boils down to trying to do way too much at the same time and then letting my posting "schedule" go haywire. I'm actively working to adhere to a set schedule, and I love this M-W-F idea.
One caveat for me is that sometimes, even after I decide I'll only post on certain days and not others, I'll really want to write and end up publishing it anyway. Does anyone else go through this or do you just schedule it for a future post?

It's up to you. If you're comfortable posting everyday, you better do and spend a few hours on promoting it. I like to post everyday. Due to my commitment to other sites, I am just taking guest posts these days which is a great help for me to update my blog almost everyday. The posts are good and I can just spend a few hours spreading the word about the post. It helps me. My Alax ranking is going good and I hope I can cross 200k by the end of 6 months positively. Regular posts help- both to the readers and to the Google spiders.
