I had a huge drop off in subscribers today (well huge for me anyway) and I don't understand why. Anyone else seeing this, maybe a technical problem? Or does my content just suck and readers have fled?

This didn't happen to me, but on the 23rd feedburner reported several bloggers I know, including myself, as having 0 subscribers. One thing that I did was check out my subscribers using the new feedburner interface. It had all subscriber data even though the old interface listed subscribers as zero for that day. I hope that helps. Good luck!

Hmm… I see my subscribers and that looks fine, but it looks like the Google reader subscribers dropped off all at once.
Would be a really bummer if I lost than many readers, I don't have that many to begin with!
Anyway, thanks for the tip, hopefully this clears up tomorrow.

Every so often, my subscriber count will drop by about 50% for a day, then go back up around where it was before. It seems to be a glitch that Feedburner has. If it stays low for an extended period, I'd check all your settings, but if your subscribers magically 'come back', you probably have nothing to worry about. It does aggravate me to no end every time I see it.

I've had my Feedburner count drop dramatically at various times, but never down to 0. As Roshawn said, it may just be a glitch due to Google switching over to a new interface.

I actually just checked and mine sure did drop down to 0 on the 23rd of NOvember, and then right back up to the same previous amount the next day. Very strange.

Feedburner does that from time to time. I use it more as a tool for finding the trend of my subscribers than actual number because it is so volatile. You have better things to worry about (writing good content, networking) than worrying about that number anyway.

My feedburner number seems to bounce up and down day to day by pretty significant % amount. I don't think the numbers reported are particularly accurate.

Ok, so its not just me! Thanks for the info. It's strange though, from what I can tell Feedburner stop counting all of my readers that use Google reader, you would that that would be the easiest for Google to measure.
Any Eric is right, I should be focusing on content and connect with people anyway.

I've read up on Feedburner and the count that they give you is purely a guess. It is based on an algorithim, but even in the case of Google Reader, people's counts would vary every day because not everybody checks their reader, or even every site in their reader, each and every day. I think Google attempts to level off the stats but even then it's a best guess. On days when it drops to 0 or in my case, by 50%, I figure something in their system had a glitch.

A bit of a side note, but worth noting …
The plugin FD Feedburner Plugin will sync your feeds if you happen to have more than one (I did).

This happens to me fairly frequently (maybe every month or two). I assume it's just a bug with Feedburner and isn't anything to worry about. Mine always goes back up to where it was before after a day or two.

I noticed the issue with Google indicating Zero subscribers today. If you go into your details for the site the subscriber statistics are still there.
