Hi guys,
What is the best way to promote old posts, on a case-by-case basis? I noticed that updating the post time doesn't work, because it doesn't refresh the RSS feed. The post has the same internal unique ID in the feed which prevents readers from seeing it as a new post.
I don't want to use Old Post Promoter because I don't want this to run randomly, but on a case-by-case basis.
What do you guys recommend?
Thanks!

That's odd…I did that exact thing just yesterday and it worked fine. Changed the date on an old post from 2010 and it showed up as a new post in my feed and I even got it as an email from Feedburner.

Really? Maybe I should try it again. I remember last time I tried that, I didn't see them as new posts in the reader. If that's true then I can just update them manually on the day of.

I've been thinking about refreshing old posts and updating them. Give something new as well when it comes to the front.

I've re-published a couple of old posts, but updated them with new commentary.

Do you know if there is any problem with doing this, from an SEO perspective?

I have updated old posts, given them a new "publish date" and they appear in the RSS feed. I think that it is essential that the "publish date" is updated and not that the post gets a new "updated date" or something like that.

Good point Khaleef. If you have dates in your urls then it could be a problem because it could change the url and create broken links, lose PR, etc. It would be like creating a new post from scratch instead of just promoting an old one. It isn't an issue for me because I don't use dates in my urls but many people do.
