Hi guys!
For those of you who have two websites or more, how much back and forth linking do you do? I have seen a few link back
to their other site any time they get the change while others barely mention it. I understand G will consider too much
linking unnatural, especially if it comes from the same IP. Why do you do one or the other?

I typically dont inter-link my sites, though on occasion when there is high article relevancy then I do include a link. Please note that I have multple IP addresses, and very rarely do I link within the same IP. Keeping that in mind, there are quite a few people here in Yakezie who share the same IP and link to each other….i.e. two sites using Andrea's hosting may have the same IP address. Likewise, I know I have shared the same IP address via Bluehost with others here in Yakezie…. I dont think its overly harmful, but I wouldnt do it in abundance or when there is little relevancy between the articles…at the very least I would keep the sites out of their respective blogrolls.

Hi Pauline,
Hi Pauline. Funnily enough I recently wrote a post addressing this very thing, called "Should You Link To Your Own Websites?" In a nutshell, according to Matt Cutts head of spam at Google, it is fine and natural to link to your own websites if they are related to each other. I posted the video within my article for people to see for themselves what he has to say.
I hope this helps you!

Good point about sites from different owners having the same Ip anyway. Why keep the sites out of blogroll if they are in the same niche? At the moment I have just linked from the about page but was thinking about adding blogroll

Thank you John, I just read your post, really helpful. Both sites are in the PF niche so I guess there will be some linking to and from :)

Just thinking if you did incur a site penalty (for whatever reason) on one of your sites, and then the other site of yours had a blogroll (i.e. homepage link) link to it then it could possibly impact that site in a negative way. More juice and more weight placed on homepage link rather than one in buried content…. again it's more a longshot scenario, but one that I've seen tossed around in these forums before.

I see, thanks for the explanation.
