Hi!

Long story (it's in a sticky post on the site) but I decided to rebrand. Meaning I have a new URL, a new name, and new social media profiles!

Facebook forced me to create a whole new page, so I'd appreciate it if you guys would go give it a like.

Also, I'm consolidating all my tweets into one account, and I'll stop using my @sooverdebt account at the end of this week. But you can follow me @AndreaWhitmer and stay updated!

Finally, if you have me on your blogroll, I'd appreciate it if you would update the name and URL. I apologize for asking so much of you guys, but my growing pains will be over soon and hopefully we can all move on. :)

Good for you. Rebranding is always tough. I lost subscribers when I switched from being a job search blog to a money blog. Even though I still write about job searching occasionally.

I'll work on updating links this weekend.

I'm looking for editors, beta-readers, and some demographic research for my upcoming novel, Once Upon a Saturn Moon. If you like reading soft sci-fi thrillers, maybe with a touch of romance thrown in, you can find more information at http://seampublishing.com/once…..aturn-moon

Rebranding is so worth it. You are still in the early stages so now is a good time to do it. I'll even try to find old comments and update them :)

It's definitely a lot of work, and I'm absolutely kicking myself for not choosing a more general name in the first place. But then again, who knew that anyone besides me would ever read my blog? I figured it would be a hobby for a few months and kind of fizzle out, much like the websites I had when I was a teenager.

At some point I'll have to write a post about some of the hilarity and hair-pulling that ensued during the move. This is NOT something I recommend unless you feel very strongly about the need to rebrand (like I did). Hopefully it'll be worth it and I won't lose too many of my subscribers. I left my Feedburner URL the same because I didn't want them to have to subscribe all over – maybe they'll all be too lazy to leave! :)

Thanks to those of you who have updated your stuff and followed the new profiles!

All the best with that and now we will get a lot of broken link reports.

You shouldn't! I have a 301 redirect in place and the old site is still there. There should be no broken links until I take down the old site, though I may keep the domain just to keep someone else from buying it.

I felt it was worth it for me, but as I said earlier in the thread, I don't recommend it unless you're 100% committed to the new brand. I'm now at 1/10 the Facebook fans I had before and about 1/8 of the Twitter followers – it's going to take a LONG time to build back up. Plus some people aren't interested in a non-PF branded site so they'll leave, though hopefully I'll appeal to a more diverse audience now. It's a really tough call. For me it was either change things up or abandon the site, so I chose change. :)

Haha. I did the same thing. If somebody wants to subscribe to Edward Antrobus, they have to subscribe to a feed called Entry Level Dilemma.

I suspect this change will also mean Google might give you a PR again since it is a new URL, right?  Or does having the redirect somehow cancel that out?
