I'm pretty new, but was just thinking about accepting guest post and it kind of scared me. I don't know if I like the idea of someone else's voice on my blog. Maybe I'm just being a bit controlling. I'm not really sure.
I wanted to know if anyone else had these kinds of fears and how they deal with guest posts?

Is it from another blogger or from someone who's trying to sell something? If it's the former, check out their blog and see if you like their style. If it's the latter, they're trying to get free links back to their site. This is something I actually asked about recently: http://yakezie.com/forums/blog…..ing-offer/

Thanks for the input. I haven't received offers. Someone I know asked if I would like to guest post, which I do, but it just got me thinking. I couldn't get your link to work.
I guess if I really like their stuff it wouldn't be so bad. It was just a shocking thought to think of someone else's voice on my blog.

I think readers enjoy a fresh voice once in awhile, especially if it's someone you already like to read. To a large extent, your readers are people like you, so only welcome those voices that are complimentary.

I completely agree with Joe. It can be a great way to bring a fresh voice and might be something you have never written about before.

Thanks that makes a lot of sense. If I enjoy reading them, my readers would too.

I have made it a point to maintain variety on TMP – and if my stats is anything to go by, my readers like it. It is more important to choose well what you publish and what you don't.

I publish one guest post a week from a fellow bloggers, about topics I talk about on RFI, financial independence, making more money, reaching your goals, etc. They are pretty popular since they are already about the things people come read on RFI.

I take guest posts from Yakezie folks and independent bloggers, but not commercial sites. That is advertising and should be treated as such.

If you're looking for someone to write a guest post for your blog, let me know. I am interested.

I accept guest posts, and to help avoid the issue of voice and authorship, I just created a new user in wordpress with the name "Guest Contributor" and post them all under that.

I just use the Custom Author Byline plugin, which is awesome.
