Scoping out SEO analysis/consulting service

I have been giving shape to a few ideas to launch in the coming months. The first in line is SEO consulting. I do really well with search engine traffic (87% of my traffic is from SE). A few people have contacted me personally about it so I thought that would be a good service to offer. Here is what I have come up with

–General SEO analysis of your site

–Recommendation of things that you can tweak in the site set up/design to bring it up to the standard including plugin recommendations (I will be able to help with implementation as well).

–Keyword analysis of your site and your top post

–Competitor analysis for your top keyword (who is ranking high for your target keyword, how many backlinks they have, …)

–Traffic analysis of your target keyword (your rank position, % of traffic you are getting)

–10 topic ideas (based on what you write & trend) with keyword optimization. I will review the post to make sure all the key parts are set right for those posts and change the post to make it SE optimized.

Now I want to know what people generally expect from these type of services. What would you want more from this type of service? Anything you want to add?

Thanks!

I'd be curious about learning more – I dont practice SEO AT ALL and have thought about doing more – currently I get about 75% or so of traffic from search engines.

Other than doing my own writing and advertising, I dont like touching anything on my blog… all those suggestions and recommendations are great for people that know what they are doing in general…im the first to admit that I dont.

I'd highly recommend offering a service where you just do everything for the blog, minus writing content.  I want someone to sign in and set it all up, plugins, design, layout..get me SE ready lol.

Yeah I added the implementation part as an after thought because I don't know people are comfortable to let me login :) I will definitely offer it as an add on. Thanks!

Great idea. I have read of others who have focused on this idea. I think I personally would be more interested in being taught the basics of SEO so that I can manage it myself. More of the consultation aspect, than hiring someone to optimize every post I write. I can see how the other option would be enticing though.

Hope that helps.

I'm sure your services are great, Suba, but many of these things can be done with Market Samurai.

Market Samurai can't retool/optimize my site layout…I dont even know if Im using the All-In-One SEO plugin properly, and i hear that's the simplest thing you can do lol. Sometimes there just isn't a substitute for a live person…

Tony, why go to Market Samurai? Do you know how much can be done using google keywords + webmaster tool? Those are free :) . Each of us are comfortable with different level of assistance. How I am different is – I will answer questions. Like Corey said, every single post cannot be optimized by someone else. I will explain why I do things the way I do, so they can pick it up from there. Or if someone has a pillar post idea they would like to see optimized they can come back to discuss. I won't be offering SEO for every post. That is not worth the time for me and not worth the money for the bloggers. What I will do that market samurai cannot do is

1) I will evaluate the whole site to make sure the basics are right.

2) Come up with various combinations of keywords (as a personal finance blogger I am at an advantage here, computers cannot do this) to see which is optimal. Both Google keywords and MS can tell how much traffic a keyword brings, but they don't know the rest of the data from your google webmaster tool to see if you will succeed with that keyword.

3) Consulting. As I said before, anyone can use google keyword. My deliverable is a strategy, not a post. That is the bloggers responsibility. If the basics are right and with a strategy fit for the blog, I think I can do better than market samurai. And I am only an email away :)

I agree. A service that could  manage everything would be great. I don't know too much about SEO but I still manage to get over 50% of my traffic from SE so I am doing something right. I would like to have someone optimize every post for me so that when's it gets published it is good to go. Or have someone go back and optimize them a week later or something.

I would definitely be interested in this kind of service. I only get about 12-15% of my traffic from search engines – I pretty much fail at SEO. I have the technical knowledge to do whatever needs to be done; I just don't know enough about SEO to know what actions to take.

This sounds very similar to what I offer as well, we should collaborate on a ebook or guide if you are interested.

LaTisha, I would love to collaborate. I still have not figured all the details though :) (part of the reason for asking what people want). My blog is a little over an year old. Even though I feel bad about my referral and direct traffic, I am enjoying great SE traffic. If someone is offering a service that will help me increase referral/direct traffic, I am all ears :)

Sounds good! I think referral traffic is great, but I'm under a year old and there are just so many people that haven't heard about me yet, so I am ok with high search traffic for now.

Maybe once I am at 20k visits a month I will worry if returning visitors is not growing along side new visitors.

Yeah I have crossed that limit and I am getting a little worried. Commenting and guest posting is probably the answer. I just like reading blogs from my phone and I hate typing comments in that small keyboard. I will have to do it…

I doubt that. What Suba is talking about sounds more comprehensive, and would certainly have a personal touch.

Suba – I'm looking forward to seeing how this takes shape!

Market Samurai gives you data that everyone else has.  Doing what everyone else does is a really bad way to beat a game based on who knows the most/has access to the most data.

Even more directly, Market Samurai can give you information, but it won't teach you how to interpret the data.  This is where Suba's value-add is–seeing emerging trends, sculpting an edge, and avoiding the "shotgun approach."  There are hundreds of thousands, if not millions of people who pay for services like these.

I would definitely split it into a few different services that would work for different people. Not everyone will be at the same level or need the same level of support

I would offer a service that sets up the blog to be SEO and gets all the basics right and information about how to promote their blog

A consultation service where you could do keyword research and come up with a strategy to help out the specific site.

Lastly I would offer  an ongoing optimization service.

I would say it is important to offer different levels as some bloggers will want to check that they are on the right track and others will want to have all of the SEO promotion taken care of.
