Hi all!
My site has been scraped and some weird site has been stealing my content for a few days. The site is only 2 weeks old so I imagine it could be easy to take it down, but have no idea how? google has a scraper reporting too but only seem interested in them if they rank higher than the original stuff.
do you take the complaint to the hosting site or to wordpress/blogger? I guess they violate T/Cs from both.
I appreciate your help!
Pauline, it happened to me too. If you use Wordpress, try installing a plugin named RSS footer. That will allow you to add a text which will be automatically appended to your RSS content and into that text I added the following text:
"This is an original content from http://www.helloscukers.net and if you read it elsewhere, it was stolen. Visit the original… blah blah blah"
The point it, that if somebody steals your content they will provide you with back-link to your site, and that's not that bad, right?
Nevertheless, after sometime scrapping stopped. maybe they didn't like providing me with a free link to my website. That's all I can say. Hope that helps.

Not necessarily. Why would you want a garbage site linking back to you?

My thoughts exactly Glen…especially considering the fact that they're the ones who stole the content. I'd much rather have it taken down altogether.

Although I agree with you, it had two effects. Since my RSS is full of links back to my site, they stopped scrapping my web site. At least I didn't find any evidence since. I know the link is not a good quality web site linking back to me, but along with a text that the site has stolen the content I think it is a good repellent.
And there is really somebody who reads that junk websites?

So I found two different instances of this site scraping happening to Saverocity, one lists a preview post with a link to me (triggers a link alert email) the other one has zero links, just posts the entire article and has the word Saverocity in it… I only found that one by googling myself and seeing it hit. I feel the latter is even worse, as it is showing up on searches so is being indexed and they are stealing my seo juice on it.
I have written to both blogs through the contact us page with a take down request, but haven't heard back from them yet…

They probably will never respond. It is better to report to their hosting provider and Google.
