Hey everyone,
Quick question – I am always interested in people's web browswing behaviours. What is your blogs/website's slowest traffic day, and what is the busiest?
Do you post your best posts on the slowest, to generate more traffic, or on the busiest to ensure maximum exposure?
Interested.

My slowest day is almost always Saturday, whether I post or not. People aren't up reading blogs in the morning and they have stuff to do that day, so I'm guessing I'm the only weirdo sitting around on the computer! Mondays are by far the heaviest days for traffic for me.
I post every MWF and once on the weekend. Every now and then I'll post on the other days, but it's rare. I try to have something new on the days people are looking – I hate to put up a post I worked hard on and feel like no one sees it.
I'm interested to hear what others have to say. Good topic!

Busiest to me is any day between Monday and Thursday. Slowest is consistently Saturday. I don't have post strategy around that. All my posts are equally good and important to me.

I would have to say Monday through Friday are the busiest for us – Saturday is definitely a day of traffic drop off, however on Sundays the traffic takes an upswing once more…
Our post schedule is Monday, Wednesday and Friday… Keep a pretty tight schedule to that…

For whatever reason Wednesday tends to be my busiest day. Similar to those above – Saturday seems to be the slowest (which makes sense).
The traffic trends don't affect when a post goes live, although maybe it should?

Monday – Thursday is the busiest time for me. The slowest is Sunday. Saturday tends to be pretty good. I guess I am an outlier in this case. I try to post MWF and rarely on the weekends.

6 days of the week get solid traffic, yet Saturday seems to be the lowest traffic day. This seems consistent of late.

Weekends are slow but I rarely put a weekend post up unless my roundup gets bumped from Friday to Saturday, which happens every now and then. For me, my biggest reason on not posting much on weekends is that comments seem to fall off a cliff and that's a pretty important metric for me.

Saturday is my slowest day as well… Sunday used to be another one, but weekends have picked up for me overall.

How do I get percentages by day of the week? Is it in Analytics? Really interested to find out!

I used the following approach with Google Analytics. You can not get it directly, thus you need to export some data. (maybe there is a much simpler way, but this is what I have done; sorry if it is too detailed)
- Take in GA a period of the last 16 weeks (start date is e.g. a Monday and end-date is a Sunday).
- Go to the "visits" or "unique visitors" info and make sure that you see the charts by day (not hour, week or month).
- Export the data to Excel. You get a long list of dates and the number of visits/visitors in Excel.
- Put in the column behind the first record an indication for what day that is (e.g. Mon, or Tue etc.)
- Do the same for all the records so that you have the day of the week indication in each row (I hope you use the auto-fill function after you have done the first few).
- Sort all the data in the the 3 columns (date/visits/day) by the 3rd column (day of the week).
- Now all the data is grouped by day of the week. Sum up the visits per day of the week and calculate what that is as percentage of the total visits for all the days of the week.
Success. Hope this is clear.

My busiest day varies from week to week but Tuesdays and Saturdays are usually my slowest. Tuesdays are when I post my money tune rather than a whole post so that's expected. Saturdays are also not a surprise.

Interesting! It seems as if Saturdays are most people's slowest day (not all, though). I find Tuesday to be wierdly slow for me – Mondays definitely seem the busiest!
