Did you hear about the newlywed wife who's wedding checks were turned away by Bank of America? The article made national headlines (here's the scoop from the Consumerist) The story involved the wife of a reporter from the Albany Times Union: Pete Iorizzo

I wrote up an informative post about cashing checks for newlyweds referencing Iorizzo situation. Pete Iorizzo wrote up a post about my post and the advice on Smart Family Finance.

Please check it out and leave some comments at the Time Union!

Congrats on the link.  Your post was good, I think you probably explained the UCC check indorsement rules better than my secured transactions professor.

I read it.  Very good story.  Hope they are still happily married after their first blip in the radar…

Bank of America just can't seem to figure out the whole 'not pissing off customers' bit, can they?

I just read all three articles, and the thing that impresses me is how you jumped on this news story and were able to garner media attention (and a link from the reporter's blog to your site) by being proactive. You've inspired me to keep my eyes open for similar opportunities. Thanks so much for sharing the story, and congratulations!
