Does anyone have a favorite social share button word press plug in? I'm looking for something that will be static either at the bottom or top of the post…don't want anything floating around while readers are trying to scroll.

I use Flare currently, looks nice, you can disable the default floating you discuss as I have. It has Share and Follow all in one, so you can put your follow icons on the sidebar and share buttons within the post.

I'm a fan of Optin Skin. It is a paid/premium plugin, but it allows you to build sharing buttons and newsletter/subscribe optins at the bottom or within posts.
Another one is Magic Action Boxes. That one is becoming more popular.

This topic inspired me to work on my social sharing. I previously used the very popular Shareaholic, but I got rid of it because it was significantly slowing down my load times.
Today alone I tried well over a dozen different social sharing plugins. I tried the ones mentioned above, but I'm not a fan of the floating icons, and I wanted to avoid spending any money on this plugin.
I eventually settled on the Socialize plugin. My favorite feature is the box that can be placed at the end of each article. I customized it to be an attention grabber and I wrote a couple sentences as a call to action to get readers to share my content. After spending all afternoon working on it, I'm happy with it so far.

I like that look Michael. I might play around with mine as well. I think the different coloring and call to action are a good touch.

Thanks Matt!
This week I'll keep an eye on my social media numbers and I'll report back here if there was any difference in performance.

I too use Flare. It's worked well for me, no complaints here and like the way it looks.

So far I'm liking socialize, but I'll have to look into the jetpack option, too! Haven't gotten that started up yet. Thanks so much, everyone!

I started out with Shareaholic myself. But then it seemed like every day there was a new update for it and when I would try to share other bloggers posts that use Shareaholic, I would get time out and other errors. It made me worry how many other might be coming to my site and experience the same thing. I've since switched over to Optin-Skin and really like it.
