If you're running a theme that has any kind of hook system(atahualpa, genesis, headway, thesis, etc), you should be able to get away with just adding this:

<script type="text/javascript" src="//js.sopablackout.org/sopablackout.js"></script>

In headway, put it in the "Before everything" easy hook and you're done.

Be careful with .htaccess redirects.  Make sure it's a 302, so you're not telling Google to give away your link juice permanently.

I like the plugin idea, too! I am going to check that out. Might be less risky than mucking around in the .htaccess

I'm doing the plugin on my sites!  I don't have time to censor myself let alone commenters. And I hate this whole big brother idea.  I'm not in Cuba, I'm in America!

Guys, if you decided to check the checkboxes like I did, just ensure they are still checked after saving the settings. It took two times for me.

I found a plugin that does this while sending a 503 message to the search engines, which is the Google-friendly way to do it: http://wordpress.org/extend/pl…..s/go-dark/

BFS is down.  I figure the loss in traffic is worth it if even one person contacts their congressman.
