I've noticed a number of Yakezie blogs with these two features.  I've been scouting out a few, but most of what I've read is old information.

Anyone have any suggestions/care to share which plug-ins they use for these purposes?  I appreciate any input you might have. Laugh

I use "Subscribe to Comments" and "Thank Me Later". Essential plugins IMO!

Subscribe to comments it is, then.  I installed WWSGD RSS promotion plug-in as well.

I thought about the Thank Me Later thing…so many blogs are using it now, and I'm not sure about it.  I don't ever read the emails I get when I comment, maybe some do.  Have you noticed an increase in traffic from email accounts?

As a reader and commenter, I personally don't like the Thank me later.  If I drop a comment and want to check back I will either check back or subscribe to comments.  The thank me later is just a junk email that I quickly delete.

Subscribe to comments, on the other hand, actually adds value for the visitor.  They can choose to be alerted to comments and opt out at a later time.

So far, I've had a few people personally thank me for the "Thank me later" but nobody has complained. I was exposed to it from another blog and I thought "wow, this is neat". It's a nice touch… BUT, I think it's very important to send the email ONCE and not for every time. Just send it the first time.

I currently use "subscribe to comments" and "comment redirect" for comments. For RSS, I have the subscription widget in my right sidebar. Sometimes I will put a link to my RSS feed at the end of an article. Oh, I also use WWSGD.

I forgot, I have been using Comment Redirect for the last couple of weeks as well.  first time commenters see this landing page:

It's a bit of a thank you and a soft sell on subscribing.

interesting!  Maybe I will have to consider giving it a try!  I am probably more anal than most, but my inbox is sort of sacred and I try to keep unecceasry emails out.  But just because I don't like them doesn't mean most other people wouldn't..  I need to stop letting my personal tastes override that of my potential readers.  You seem to have evidence that people don't mind getting the thank-you emails though..  hmmm..

I guess if you have the comment redirect that fills the same role. I agree that if you get the email more than once it can get annoying, but the first time can be a nice touch. Actually, what I like is that with the email it's a bit of a pleasant surprise and reminds you of the site. I personally tend to notice the comment redirects less though I think they're a nice touch, too. I have configured my thank me later to send the email only once to try and hit the best benefit while hopefully annoying the least people possible. ;)

Hi Suba!

Is that how you get the "Notify me of follow-up Comments via Email" below the comment box? I am looking for a better looking one then the one I have.

Thanks!

Do you have analytics on that page?  Does it convert well?

I'm a bit of a stickler about how I like my user experience.  I try to keep it as simple as possible, since offending even the smallest amount of traffic, IMO, isn't worth only a couple of subscribers.

OT:  I LOVE your site design, so simple and easy to use.  Awesome use of white space…something that seems to be disappearing as time goes on.
