Sudden Traffic – I am perplexed

OK, I am experiencing a phenomenon today that is totally new to me.

I wrote a post awhile ago about Google avoiding taxes.  Today, it has totally taken off with search engine traffic.  (It has NOT been linked to any article that I know of or anything.)  It isn't even noon, and it almost has 1000 hits, and I have no idea why.

I would obviously love for this to happen again, so do any of you experienced people out there have any ideas why it may have happened?  It literally happened overnight.

Thoughts?

Sweet! It's all coming from the SE? Interesting… I have been fortunate enough to receive a couple of awesome referrals, but haven't seen something like that happen yet. Does it have anything to do with Neal's thread?

I was wondering about Neal's thread too, but the link to that page went in in November.  It is funny because it is now number one on Google search for 'Dutch Sandwich Tax'.  It is totally search engine traffic, and it just happened out of nowhere.

Traffic is now over 1100 and the adsense is up to $19.00 for the day.  The backlinks must be the key but no idea why it just took off today.  (The post was from October.)

I hope Neal's linking plan works for everyone if that is the key!

It sounds like you got a boost to the top of the rankings for the keyword phrase.  That's awesome!

Maybe a TV news program mentioned "dutch sandwich tax" and then many of the viewers ran to Google to find out more about it?

That's great! Have you checked your stats to see who your top referrers are? Maybe a major publication picked up your post and it took off.

Buffett- My traffic is 100 percent search engine for this post, it is hilarious.  (I thought maybe someone important linked to my post too, but no such luck.)

Buck – Neal at Wealth Pilgrim put together a program with Beating Broke to link to other bloggers once a month.  I believe you find the link over on the Ad campaigns thread.

LOL.  I was almost right.  Just cross off "TV news program" and fill in "comic strip".

Nice work Kris! I FREAKING LOVE WHEN THAT HAPPENS!

For some reason whenever I write about a tax topic I end up with a surge (but taxes are so damn boring lol).  You should test it out, and write about a tax topic in the news and determine where you land in google.
