Yeah guys, that was pretty harsh criticism. He didn't hold any punches. I was half-way expecting a "fluff piece."

I love his comment "evidence of ignorance" … she's such a sell-out. I didn't really like her to begin with, but gave her the benefit of doubt. Now she's just a fraud to me. She could have done so much good, but chose no too.

I'm probably one of the few who will defend this product (not the marketing or the ensuing flame war). I commented on MoneyCone's post on this issue. There is a market that needs this product and the institutions that provide it have every right to charge for it.

That's good.  I was hoping that this would get some exposure given the high visibility that Suze has received.  She should have realized that calling someone 'idiot' in this high visibility circumstance was going to lead to backlash.

It's amazing how much news this has made! In reading her tweets, I was even a little surprised that it was indeed her saying those things.

Has anyone read her books? Does she provide pretty good personal finance advice aside from this fiasco? haha

You are right, there is a market that needs this product, but she is the type that advocates against becoming this "market"… then turns around and capitalizes on it…im not saying somebody shouldnt do it, but not her… I have no trust in what she says anymore.

I think I'll take Dave Ramsey's position on her: most of what she says is sound; I guess it is unrealistic to suspect that you agree with everything someone says. She definitely has her fair share of critics, as with most of the financial gurus.

I agree that there is a need for short term financing and pre-loaded debit cards – but I don't think Orman's fee structure is defendable (market or not) – there is a fee for everything! If she truly wanted to help people understand how to use credit (though the card is a debit card!?) why not charge one fee upfront? Find a pricing point where costs and profits are covered … One fee … that's transparency.

Of course, I suspect it would be rather expensive and that few people would use it.

As other folks in this forum have said; why is she getting herself into this?
Next stop pay-day lending?
Suze's Pawnshop?
