Distributed Denial of Service attack. One, or more commonly, many computers send non-sense data to a specific webserver. The server can't cope with all this fake traffic, so the website goes offline for a period of time.

Yeah, exactly.  It's basically a virtually sit-in.

Want to shut down a retail store for a day?  Have hundreds of people show up and stand inside, crowding out all the paying customers.

Want to shut down a website for a day?  Have hundreds of computers send data packets (ping) a single server all at the same time, blocking out everyone else who tries to legitimately access it.

Creditloan.com pulled ads from me too, and I had four!  (I will miss that money!)

However, our agreement was on a month-to-month basis, so there was no hassle with them ending the agreement.  To me, it sounded like they were pulling a lot of advertising, but who knows.

Personally I have something in my terms that say there are no refunds for ads sold.   I may make an exception in some very rare circumstances, but very rarely.  just make sure to put something in your terms that state that there are no refunds and that all sales are final.

I also put something in my terms about making changes to links.  If they want to change their text link, I charge a change fee. Once i started doing that it cut down drastically on companies who were trying to get me to change their anchor text every other month.
