Jana, congrats! I have to say I read those comments and I didn't think any of them was meant for you, more a commentary on the show. Consumerist commenters are worse than Yahoo commenters! But they did make me laugh.  I would take troll comments with a grain of salt, especially when they come from people whose screenname is "penuspenuspenus" haha!

Your post was picked up because you are awesome!

I haven't read the comments over there for this, but know I got some pretty stupid ones when I had a post linked to from there. One person thought my post was so stupid that the Consumerist blogger who linked to it must have been doing me a favor, and another who came over to my site and posted about he, in his mid-20s had owned multiple luxury cars and I was dumb for saying I'd never buy a Lexus, after all, he'd just bought his fiance one (which I found really funny since my post was about how you shouldn't by cars as gifts) and they both loved them.

One of my writing teachers once gave our class some excellent advice, in fact, it was her motto and printed on coffee mugs we each got at the end of the course- Just Smile and Nod

I love the "Just smile and nod" advice. Suddenly it makes things so much easier!

Wow, lightning strikes twice!  I think people were more taken aback by the show than you personally.  You're awesome.  Great job!

I was ripped by a few commenters when they linked to my post at the Consumerist as well. It does hurt, but my skin is growing tougher:). My ultra-supportive and awesome husband likes to point out that there are entire websites out there dedicated to hating Rachel Ray.

Well done Jana. There's always going to be trolls and haters. That kind of attention means that you're really getting noticed.

Congratulations, lightening striking twice!  Try not to take the (negative) comments personally.  I think the commenter is looking for their 15 minutes of fame.  :)

Jana I understand you might not have thick skin. It's not personal. Some people wrote thoughtless things and that has nothing to do with you, your writing, or your abilities. I have had some hurtful comments made to me about stuff I have created in the past. I even had a death threat.

You have value end of story.
