As many of you know, Mrs. SPF has taken about 5 months off writing for our co-written site.  We had our first child and she has been super busy/occupied with lil' SPF.

Anyhow, she has been working on an article: Why Use Cloth Diapers? for some time, and today, around 11:30am, The Consumerist picked it up! (our 2nd story in 4 months, neither by me! lol) http://consumerist.com/2012/01…..apers.html

I am so happy for her!  We would love if you checked our her article, commented, promoted – whatever!  Mrs. SPF will be ecstatic as today is her birthday and her article is getting lots of attention!

Woo hoo!

Haha.  She always laments that my articles have gotten the most media attention so she will be really happy about this. (the other Consumerist pick up was a guest post by P.E.T)

Just so folks know, she shows how we save $1400 over 2 years using cloth diapers!

haha – Nice! I've actually been surprised how much traffic a few of my guest posts have generated. The 6th most trafficked article on my site is one that was written by an author from Money Super Market! :)

Yeah, I remember that.  It was homemade soap right?

Just out of curiosity, do you notice a difference when they mention you?  I didn't get any subscribers or followers, just traffic. And most of that traffic bounced, so all I got was a big spike on the line graph while my other numbers got skewed negatively.

It is impossible to tell who sticks around.  I think we got some more twitter followers, possibly some RSS – I dunno.  For our site if the reader isn't simply a troll, and happens to be interested in sustainable/green things + finances, they might come back.

Awesome SPF and Mrs. SPF! It feels great, doesn't it? I am sure you will see a little spike in adsense too. I know I did… (marginal, but every bit counts).

It was one of the most thorough articles on cloth diapers I have seen. Pass on my compliments (even though I already did in the comments)

What I liked (and like) is that we try to go beyond just the number crunching or simply sounding preachy about being "green".  Mrs. SPF did a great job pointing our the sustainability – green and financially – in this article.  These types or articles are our bread and butter when we merge the two topics.

And yes, she read the comment :)  I tried to respond to those she couldn't get to last night (quote: "You answer all of these every day?! I've spent 45 minutes and i'm not done!" –> comments)

Took quite a bit of editing.  She is used to university whereas blogs have to break up mega paragraphs or readers lose interest.  But i've always edited everything @ SPF.  Part of the job!
