The Power of The Consumerist

When a PR 7 site with thousands (10s of thousands?) of daily readers links to you directly, in an article dedicated to the topic on your site, traffic really goes batty.

About 5 hours ago The Consumerist wrote about an article, provided by Miss T. (helping us out after lil' SPF was born) as a guest post, called How to Make Deodorant.  Big thanks to Miss T for her contribution to our site (again!)!

http://consumerist.com/2011/10…..cheap.html

http://sustainablepersonalfina…..deodorant/

So I mentioned traffic.  In the 5 hours since the link we've had 767 visitors from The Consumerist.  The article has seen 1168 page views.

Considering the links from Free Money Finance and Million Dollar Journey, and some still coming in from Money Sense – then the Consumerist traffic.  Today has been our busiest day ever, with 2.5 hours until midnight.

That's great, you're clearly doing some things well. It goes to show how influential certain sites can be, no doubt about it. I got a link from lifehacker a few weeks ago out of the blue and got a ton of traffic. Those lead to some pretty good stats!

Good stuff!  What's great is when one big site picks you it can snowball to other sites as well.

Great. But why would people make their own when they can buy it for a few bucks?

Way to go SPF! The Consumerist is amazing for traffic–I was the editor's pick for one of the Best of Money Carnivals, and FMF put a link to the article on The Consumerist–over 3,000 visits in one day!!!
