Hi everyone,

I just joined the Yakezie Network and I'm really loving the support around here. Today I started a blogroll on my website and the truth is I didn't know where to start.

I heard that one of the best ways to help other websites is to add them to your blogroll. I want to add high quality websites from active webmasters like you. So I figured – what better place to start than the Yakezie Network!

I'm going to make a focused effort to selflessly promote your website if you're part of the Yakezie Network.

The Challenge

The concept is simple.

  • 1) Add high-quality active Yakezie members to your blogroll (fill out my form with your website info here  http://zeropassiveincome.com/blogroll and I'll add you to mine)
  • 2) Reciprocation – If a Yakezie member has added you to their blogroll, add them to yours! =)
  • 3) Spread the word about this challenge!

So what do you think? Is this going to help the network? Are you in?

Check out Zero Passive Income and find out how my wife went from broke with zero passive income to where we are today!

I manage my blogroll by adding the sites I love the most.  If I find that I'm commenting on a site regularly, if I am including them in roundups regularly, etc. I will add them to my blogroll.  I try to go through my blogroll at least once a month and make sure it's up to date, adding sites that I can't go without reading and taking off sites that may have stopped writing regularly or that I've lost that 'feeling' with.

Commenting on other blogs regularly really helps.  I'm not going to lie, there are a couple sites that I really enjoy whose blog I commented on all the time, but after never getting so much as a comment response, comment on my blog, mention in a roundup, etc. I bumped them off.  I hope that doesn't make me seem petty, but if it's any consolation I try to replace them with Yakezie members when that happens :) :) :)

Cool challenge. Only issue is I don't use a blog roll. I do have a Yakezie page and a Personal Finance page though.

I haven't thought about having a blogroll on my sites in quite some time. I think that it can quickly get unruly with a lot of sites being added. I understand the wonderful sentiment to want to help fellow Yakezie members and challengers, but do blog rolls add value to our readers?

Is there a plugin that lets you rotate blogs listed in your blogroll so only 10 or so show at one time even if you have 100 listed? It seems like I've seen that on a lot of people's sidebars.

I used to try and keep a yakezie blogroll on my site, but it was far too hard to maintain – people were adding and dropping off all the time.  Right now, I just have my yakezie page link to the page on yakezie.com with all the member sites.
So that means that the challengers get the short end of the stick at first (sorry!) but they make it eventually. It also helps build juice for the yakezie website.
