Hi all, I am current using a free Wordpress theme (Suffusion), which does work pretty well. However, I have zero design skills (I can't even draw a straightline) and I am considering a custom Thesis theme because they appear to be a bit more flexible and have a more custom look as oppose to a lower-end, run of the mill template look.
I know that some of you use a custom Thesis theme; Is it worth it? I am less concerned about the money then the time. If it takes me several hours to configure and it is pretty much the same or only slightly better than Suffusion then it is really not worth it to me. I can use that same time to write posts or work on building relationships, etc…
Any thoughts? Thank you in advance.

I haven't tried Thesis, but I, like you, have no design skills. That's what I like about my premium theme (Standard Theme). It was super easy to use.

Thesis was the first (and only) premium theme I've ever bought. They claim that it's really easy to use, but if you have no coding background, it is a steep learning curve. Their support forums were (haven't been in there in a while) amazing and that's where I got a lot of the code that I was able to copy and paste to customize my site.
They've added a lot of features since the first release that make customization a whole lot easier.
One thing to note is that on top of the developers license, I also had to pay someone to do my header for me. Just expect that if you buy the theme, there might be some additional cost to get your site to look the way you want it. All in, I think I spent about $150.

I've never tried Thesis, but I have turned into a Headway evangelist. I love it. It's almost entirely drag-and-drop, but still extremely flexible. The learning curve isn't bad at all.

Try Pagelines, it's pretty good just drag and drop for everything

I think it's completely worth it, if you are serious about your site. Although I know nothing about coding, I can usually find a quick answer in the DIY forums, or here (since so many Yakezie members use the theme)!

I use ThemeJunkie (Daily) theme and find it really easy to customize. I do know a bit about design and coding however I have not had to spend much time at all on coding. The support forum has been helpful as well.

I switched to Thesis about a month ago and had some help from a fellow Yakezie member. Once they got everything in place, it's been fairly simple to figure everything out.
I would highly recommend the switch.

Abso-smurfly!
I use Thesis and love it. As Jeff said, there could be some learning curve but there are robust forums and tutorials out there.
There are other premium themes that are excellent as well.

I use the Catalyst theme for my blog. I like you, have absolutely 0 design skill and I believe my blog looks good. http://catalysttheme.com/ for more information. I did not code 1 thing on my blog. I used catalyst drop down menus. Once I get a little more familiar with catalyst I'm sure I can make my blog look even better. Good luck. feel free to contact me anytime if you need assistance.

I just dont care how good the support forums are for a theme, I do NOT want to learn code lol…I just simply refuse to learn anything about it…im busy enough in life. I use Evolve from Blogatize, it's a free theme and works well enough for me… but who knows, maybe Im missing something I dont even know about yet.

I am with you on this! I know a little code, but I really just don't have the time to deal with it or to learn more. I will check out Evolve and the Catalyst Theme that YF mentioned. The main thing I need is a clean design and a LOGO. I have my logo competition underway right now, but I do not have many entries, so not sure how that will turn out.
Also, I hope all is well with your health and everything, take care of yourself.

Thesis is good, but it takes a little bit of time to find your way about it, the forums are really helpful. Any paid theme should improve the look of your site. Where Thesis really excels is how solid it is, I have never had any problems with it and in some ways it is more an easily customisable back-end than just a pure theme.

I've been happy with Thesis and since I use it on several sites it isn't that expensive per site. It did have more of a learning curve than I expected but a Google search of search of their help forums has been able to supply me with the answers to any problems I've had. That being said I think there are some free themes out there that provide a similar level of customization.
