For those of you who use the Shareholic plugin for social media buttons on your post, what do you think about their new Recommendations / Related Content feature? It's automatically turned on, so now at the end of every one of my posts, three thumbnails with links and titles of other posts show up.
Do you find this helpful, or too much clutter? I already have pertinent internlinking of content in my posts so I'm wondering if this is just overboard for the reader.
Any data to back up the efficacy of the feature, such as higher pageviews/visit and lower bounce rate would be great!
Thanks,
Sam

I recently removed Shareholic from my site. I thought the new features were great, but most of the load time metrics that I saw indicated that Shareholic was the weak link is my site speed, so I had to remove it.
From a reader perspective, I like a set of links to choose from at the end of an article. When I read an article I tend to gloss over the internlinking as clicking would disrupt the flow of the article I am reading, though I will occasionally open the link in a new tab. I am much more likely to click on a suggested reading article at the end. However, I do not have any data to back up my personal perspective.

I am the exact same way when reading.

As a reader, I rarely click on the links after the content, but I definitely click on the links within the content. I just open it in a new tab so I can read it when I'm done. The bottom links don't bother me, they just don't normally have any context to make them especially interesting.

I usually will open up new tabs as i'm reading an article. Sometimes this gets me into trouble as I get sidetracked with the new article and don't finish the original one lol.

As a reader, I right click CONSTANTLY to open things in a new window.
If you interlink inside a post, you should set target to blank, so a new tab appears. This keeps your reader on your article if they aren't savvy enough to right click and gives them the new content, too.
