A lot of people have complained lately that they haven't been able to contact me via my contact form here

http://www.investitwisely.com/contact/

I tested in in Chrome, Firefox, and IE.

Chrome: OK

Firefox: OK

IE: Following error

Error 403 We're sorry, but we could not fulfill your request for /contact/ on this server. You do not have permission to access this server. Before trying again, close your browser, run anti-virus and anti-spyware software and remove any viruses and spyware from your computer. Your technical support key is: d8ef-4c98-b40c-8ddc You can use this key to fix this problem yourself. If you are unable to fix the problem yourself, please contact info at investitwisely.com and be sure to provide the technical support key shown above.

What the heck! I think Bad Behavior is over-active? It really doesn't like IE users. Unfortunately I have to support them since someone could try to contact me via that…

So, either time to disable bad behavior or find another contact form…

Yep, it's bad behavior! It thinks that the POST is more than two days after the GET… and wow, do I have a lot of emails in there!

Hmm, I'm looking through and there is a lot of garbage in there. I wonder how much spam I'll get if I turn it off… but I also have a captcha on the contact form and conditional captcha on the comments.

Unfortunately Bad Behavior doesn't seem to have any configuration options to disable it on certain paths or disable certain features… so going to have to disable it. Hopefully the captchas will take care of spam.

Oh, interesting, you can do this:

Whitelisting

On rare occasions you may wish to whitelist a specific user agent or IP address range. You can also whitelist specific URLs on your site, so that Bad Behavior will never protect a request to that URL. To do so, edit the

bad-behavior/whitelist.inc.php

file, and insert the exact user agent or IP address range desired. Bad Behavior accepts single IP addresses or CIDR format address ranges. If you find something is blocked that should not be, however, please contact me so that I can look into it as well.

(Note: Bad Behavior’s whitelist is not yet IPv6 aware, though neither are most spammers. Full IPv6 support is planned.)

You guys might want to check if Bad Behavior is blocking legit requests on your side as well. For me it seems to mostly be contact form stuff, perhaps due to a bug in the form or in IE (it only happens for IE). In the comments, haven't seen it so much.

So I copied whitelist-sample.ini to whitelist.ini and added this:

url[] = "/contact/index.php"url[] = "/contact/"url[] = "/contact/*"

And that seems to work. I can post in IE now. They should really make this available from the GUI though…
