There has been a lot of discussion lately about SEO and getting better search status on Google searches.

One of the "hints" I read here was that linking to your own articles, from within your own articles, is a good thing.  From what I reckon, it means your keywords are being used exactly how you want them to be used on a page other than the page they originate from.

Today I was doing my Weekend Reading, which I truly love to put together.  In the Weekend Reading I really like to say thanks to all the sites/bloggers who have linked to our articles over the past week (assuming I know about the links!) at the end of the article.

So I was thinking, "Hey, i'm linking to these other sites because they linked to our articles.  Why not add a brief note to each "thanks" describing which article was linked to?  And in that note, add a link to my own article."  So I did just that.

This likely isn't a new concept but I haven't really seen it done to much in other round ups so I thought i'd toss if out there as an idea for people to gain additional links within their own articles to some of their other articles.  Feel free to see how I did so (and see if you were included in our Reading this week!):10

I saw that you had done that — and I assumed it was for this reason — and I thought it was very smart. I'll be curious to see if anyone else who is better at SEO comments to see whether it really helps or not.

Me too!  No harm no foul.  If the logic is to link to your SEO keyword links in your own site, no harm no foul.  Simply sending a link to the person who posted your link is the nice thing to do, but getting some added value for yourself seems logical even if it means a tiny bit more work.

I think it's a great move. I do that a lot as well – but never with roundups (I guess I have a new way to include my links Wink). Thanks

Interesting! I have been wanting to take some time to go through posts and add internal links, so I am definitely going to check out these plugins!

interlinking is effective if done the right way.  that is why focusing on establishing a website blueprint is a key step in planning out your website.  since a blog is more fluid, interlinking between posts is recommended whenever possible for several reasons, including passing on page rank (PR Juice).  i have a post planned on why website blueprint/architecture is important and how to go about planning one…keyword research is a big component of this, which i plan on getting into in detail

Sunil, do post here when you get your article up. I'd be interested in seeing what you have to say about a blog blueprint!
