A lot of things in our lives are seasonal. So I felt it is only natural that personal finance will also have seasonal aspects to it. For this reason, I wanted to start a carnival that highlights the best blog posts that relate to any particular point of time.

While there are a variety of great personal finance carnivals around the blogosphere, Carnival of Seasonal Finance is unique in two ways-

  1. It features posts that are most useful to people at the current point in time. Example: Tax related posts in March-April. The idea is to highlight all the useful and timely articles in one place.
  2. It comes with a reward! The host will pick the best article each week – an editor’s pick. The winner will get to choose their favorite charity to which I will donate $10. It is not much, but as the carnival grows I will increase the amount.

The first edition of the Carnival will showcase posts relating to financial fitness, new beginnings and resolutions. It will go live on Jan 12th, deadline to submit the posts in Jan 10 8PM EST.

These carnivals will help highlight the abundance of talent in the Yakezie community. With BFS's Totally Money blog carnival kicking off next week, we should have plenty of opportunities to showcase our talent.

Enter and get your favorite charity some money!

Thanks for the mention of Totally Money, Suba!  I've emailed myself a reminder to submit a post about goals tonight.  :-)  It should be pretty easy since I seem to have written 4-5 of them in the last 2 weeks, lol.

My submission made it over, right?  I'm looking forward to this carnival since I do seem to post seasonally, lol.

Interesting concept, Suba. It makes sense, for timely posts. If one wants to learn about Taxes, or how to save on Summer travel, etc – this could be the place to go. I'll keep it mind when I make a seasonal-related post!

You haven't gotten random submissions from Blog Carnival yet (i.e. spam)?  I can't check your submission form out from work (stupid filters), but are you categorized under "finance and money"?  And make sure your first posting date shows up correctly…I accidentally set mine up as 2010 the first time and that obviously messed up its listing too.

Anyway, good luck!  I bet people are just waiting to do their round of submissions on Friday (like me) – I only submitted early because I emailed myself a note, lol.  :-)

That's what I was talking about.  Sounds like it is listed correctly, so I bet you get more submissions Thursday-Saturday when people usually start submitting like rabid monkeys.  :-)  I've hosted 4 carnivals in the last 6 months and that is usally when the submissions increase.
