For those who don't understand the game, this company is offering to give you a BS award in exchange for placing their badge on your site.  Their badge contains dofollow links, while their site only provides nofollow links to the "winners".   It's an SEO game that will hurt your site more than it will help.  It would at least be a fair trade if they provided dofollow links in return.

Do yourselves a favor and don't accept the reward.  I sent a response suggesting  straightforward ad placement instead of playing games with the uninformed.

I've got another blog in the crime/politics niche, and I got the exact same offer.  Only the url and the niche-specific wording changed.

I'm insulted that I don't get these anymore.  The last time my response was the following:

"Wow!  I'm so honored that you chose me to receive this award. You can never be sure just who is reading your blog, but since an esteemed company as yours has chosed to honor me, you've made my week.  Before I add the badge and link back to your site, please take a moment to review my policy on advertisements.  I'm sure that you'll find my rates very agreeable since you've honored me with this award. The badgewill be added as soon as I receive payment for a 125 x 125 ad.  Again, thank you so much for this recognition."

The funny thing is, I didn't get a response. 

I replied that "I'm honored but badge space on my sidebars ranges from $50-$150 a month depending on location.  Would you like to sign up for a monthly subscription on a site with an Alexa Ranking of 49,000, a Moz Rank of 5, and a PR 2?"  We'll see what happens, lol.  :-)
