Hey Jay! Are the referrals from Wisebread from a guest post, comments, or Top Personal Finance Blog section? Just curious.

Andrea! Just checked out Dlvr.it and it looks interesting. What can you tell us about it? It looks like you just go to their site to post content and it delivers to different social media, is that correct?

I don't have any social media sources in the top 10. Twitter comes in at 13, I've been more active on it lately so maybe it will crack the top 10 next month.

The wisebread referrals are all from the Top PF Blog section…I have no idea why because I'm pretty buried over there, but I get a handful of clicks each day from it.

For 2012 through Dec 8th:
1. google / organic
2. direct
3. google.com / referral
4. freemoneyfinance.com / referral
5. consumerismcommentary.com / referral
6. lenpenzo.com / referral
7. t.co / referral
8. bing / organic
9. yahoo / organic
10. retireby40.org / referral
I'm totally lame at doing guest posts, so all the referrals from blogs are mentions and/or blogroll listings (I guess?).

@Deacon – Sorry, didn't see your post until now.
Dlvr.it is a content delivery service – you set it up ahead of time to pull from your RSS feed, and when you have new posts, it publishes them to Twitter/Facebook/LinkedIn/whatever automatically. I wrote a post (link) awhile back about how easy it is to set up; I really like it!

Have you written posts for Oregonlive.com? If not how are you getting traffic from their site? Thanks for chiming in!
No, they just link to me every once in a while. They usually drive okay traffic for a few days. I probably get a thousand visitors or so per link spread out over the next week or so. Not bad. They follow me on twitter so I'm assuming that's where they see my content.

That is awesome that your wife's blog is one of your top 10 referral sources! I have been using StumbleUpon much more lately and by the looks of it, it has been sending you quite a bit of referrals. Do you use the Paid Discovery or is that organic from people Stumbling and liking your posts?

You get referrals from TheNest.com? That is interesting. Do you just comment in the forums and get traffic that way?

I just "Stumbled Upon" how to use it. I got the Social Metrics plugin for Wordpress and under the Stumble Upon heading there is a button that says Submit. When you click it, it takes you to a page where your can submit that post. If people like it, it will get more "Stumbles". The key is writing unique and interesting content and submitting it in the right category. I use the Financial Planning and Banking category for my Personal Finance type posts.

I just recently found out how to submit my posts on StumbleUpon through the Social Metrics plugin for Wordpress. In the past 7 days I have had 240 unique hits from Stumble upon. Who would have thought?

Thanks, just installed this plugin and started stumbling! :)
That is awesome! Another thing that I like about the Social Metrics plugin is that it tells you how many times a post has been mentioned on Social Media like Twitter, Facebook, StumbleUpon, Etc. This way I can see what people are sharing and what they are not. It has been super helpful in this regards.
I just did the exact same thing… I'm impressed stumbleupon does so well!
