I've been given mixed answers when asked what to do with trackbacks. Do you approve or delete them? Do they help with anything?
Thanks!
Andrea

I approve all the track backs from other bloggers who link to me. It is not an equivalent link back but that is the least I could do to immediately return the favor.
For the track back from carnivals, I link to them separately anyway so I trash those link backs as soon as I link them properly. Just for my own tracking I keep them pending until I have linked to them properly. Rest of the trackbacks from spam sites, go to spam/trash.

I keep them as approved. If it's a spammy site, obviously they're be deleted as soon as I notice. But a regular PF blog…they're approved.

I have been leaving all trackbacks because I didnt think it was a link back to the site – am I wrong on this? I seem to get a lot of spam type trackbacks from random sites.

Jeff it is a link back, though a much less valuable link back than the blogger kindly provided because it is a nofollow link. But a link nonetheless.

I approve trackbacks from other blogs. If it's clearly spam, I'll delete them.
I am very hard on spam coming in – I don't care how "great" the comment is, I hate spam!

I use to approve valid trackbacks, but I think I'll follow Suba's lead since it makes sense to do so.

I'll approve all trackbacks regardless of where they come from unless it is clearly a trashy or spammy site…

What about pingbacks from your articles? Are you suppose to approve those?

You mean going from your article to others? Usually the other site has to approve those… unless you mean everything coming in. I approve all of those, trackbacks or pingbacks, unless they're to really spammy sites. I even approve spammy comments if they impress me enough. ;)

I have trackbacks turned off on all but one of my sites. I approve non-spammy ones on the Debt Myth.

I judge each one as it comes in. From Yakezie members I almost always publish.

I also allow trackbacks, as long as I'm comfortable with the site they are from. In other words, no spammy sites.
