Do you recognize me? Ok if not, I am still working my way around this site to introduce myself to everyone.

Question for the masses or anyone that wants to answer: My site went live early february 6 to be exact.  So a little over a month ago.  What kind of traffic should a site this new be seeing at the moment or better yet if you are relatively new what kind of traffic are you seeing?

Along with the traffic, what kind of effort are you putting into your blog? 2 hrs a day, 4 hrs?

I guess there is no right or wrong answer it just like to guage myself amongst my peers.  Which is probably why I do benchmarking as part of my job.  Analyzing labor productivity as compared to our peers.

Any assistance is appreciated, even if a shhh you never ask that question…so that I can file that in there with my never ask a woman her age

I think in my first couple of months blogging, I was getting like 10 visitors a day – mostly friends and family.  After about month 2, I was getting like 25-50, as well as some search engine traffic.

Once I joined Yakezie and started participating, I started to get a lot more regular traffic, around at least 50 a day.  I didn't get there until a year in though.

From my experience: I joined Yakezie from day one. My traffic fluctuated from 25-50 a day (thanks to Yakezie!!!). Everything depends on what you are doing: carnival submissions, guest posting, networking and commenting. And don't forget to write good content! So, I'd say if you are writing and posting on a regular schedule, networking, and guest posting, you will see your traffic grow every month.

There is no formula that can determine what's normal and what's not for a new site.

It takes time to build your presence on-line. Be patient.

I put in a lot of hours weekly, I'd say about 15-20 if not more. Writing takes a lot because English is my third language, so I take time to write.

Email me if you have any questions.

Right now this past week i have been running between about 25-45.  Today I am up over 100 but that is an anamoly.  It is slowly picking up some steam.  I appreciate your responses.  It was more of a curiousity question.

I have been wondering the same, so thanks for starting this thread.

I average about 25-35 a day.  I wish I had more, but can't complain.  I work and go to school full time, so it can be hard to find time.

Congrats on today's #'s.

Good question!  I have been wondering the same thing.

I started my blog early February and joined Yakezie March 11th (I think).  I get between 5 and 15 visitors a day (thanks to everyone who has visited!).  I try writing at least 3 posts a week even though I've been trying to write more than that.  Average time blogging, commenting, and tinkering with the code is about 5 hours a day 6 days a week.  I try to write quality content, but I don't know if I am.  No one has told me either way Wink.

I think as I write more I will get better at it and maybe more people will stop by.  That's the plan!

For the first month or so I was only averaging 10-25/day and that was mostly old friends and family.

I was able to get a big mention by MoneySavingMom in my 2nd month and did two giveaways of a few popular books (Quitter by Jon Acuff & Money Saving Mom's Budget by MSM). Those 3 things helped things a lot and I now average 80-150/day after 3 full months of blogging.

Honestly, I'd say I put in at least 4 hours a day into the blog. It was 1-2 before joining Yakezie but taking time to network and read others' blogs has taken quit a bit of commitment.

Hope that helps! It sounds like you're on a great path though. I think of growing readers more as an exponential graph as opposed to linear. As you get started it just takes time for people (and the search engines) to realize you're there.

I'm actually excited to see if more people post answers to this. I'm new too, and right now I'm putting in 2-3 hours a day because I'm still building the blog a bit. My Alexa ranking isn't up yet, still says "N/A" in the toolbar, but I suspect this will change with time. Good luck with your blog!

I have been averaging 10-25 visitors a day with spikes up to 50. I am really surprised by this as it is only my second week of blogging.

My blog is only a couple months old as well. I'm averaging just over 20 unique visitors a day. I spend about an hour a day on average I'd say, more on days where I write posts obviously. I wish I could spend more time on mine, but I can't justify it right now unfortunately.

My blog is a year and a half old but I've only really started taking it seriously and developing it starting December. I can't remember what my traffic was at the beginning, but since I started working on it it's improved by a LOT. I remember before December I had about 100 site visits a day, give or take (80-150). I now average about 250-400 depending on the day, but it fluctuates and has been climbing every month so I'm hoping I can get up to 350-600 by the end of April (if not more).

I spend a lot of time blogging, tweeting, commenting, editing, development, Yakezie-ing, connecting and emailing. I start off my morning with about 1.5 hours, and end my day with about the same amount (not including writing blogs). On my weekends, I spend anywhere from 4-10 hours blogging and doing blog related activities.

It's not easy, but I've been seeing HUGE returns on my time with traffic, connections, etc. I genuinely enjoy it, though, so it makes it a lot easier to spend the time at it.

Thanks for all the honest feed back.  I know some dont want to share this type information.  It really is a community all the other bloggers.  I will go on others sites and be like oh daisy was already here.  Oh so was modest money.  Do you guys notice that as well?

I do not know how much time I spend on my blog. I would probably say about two hours, but this time is spent doing things that are enjoyable and I like to use my time like that.

I am getting around 50 on a good day and 25 on a not so good day. The strange thing I have noticed is my best traffic days are on the day or two after I post, not when I put a new one up. Does this happen to anyone else and are there any explanations?

I started just a month ago and joined Yakezie just recently. I notice a spike in my traffic on days I am active on Yakezie. My traffic is still low. Thanks to those who visit my site ;-) by the way. It also helps me discover new blogs as I always visit other sites that comment on the thread.

My new site is one month old today and I get around 20 – 30 views a day on average. All referral traffic and some direct. No SE traffic so far barring 5 or 6 (in a month) in total.

SE traffic gradually increases and what I have seen with OCAAT is, the SE traffic increases in time throttles.

3 months, 6 months, 1 year…don't know beyond this but I read Sam mentioning in the forum/blog that SE traffic gets a jump at 1.5 to 2 years stage.

So the blogs in infancy, have to rely on referral traffic alone, so keep on commenting, rounduping and carnivaling.

I see that in general I am on the right track so far. I would love to be able to receive more SE traffic but I think that with my content being more personal I doubt I will receive lots. I am not a how-to guy really.

I started with traffic of about 20 visitors a day. I think all 20 was my mom but today I have about 400 to 500 a day. It's all about nurturing your blog and the community. When you do it… do it with heart and you won't go wrong.

I spend about two hours each day commenting on other blogs and writing the next day's posts. In my first month of blogging (September), I had 243 visitors for the entire month. In February I had 1543 visitors. I found that since I joined Yakezie and started commenting on more blogs, there has been a major jump in traffic. Creating good content is very important too, because it keeps people interested. I love your blog, and I know that you will be successful.
