Ok, now I am on a mission.  I use statcounter for my visits, in addition to Google analytics.  Shouldn't my pageviews in Analytics compare pretty closely with my page loads in statcounter?  Well, my analytics page views are definitely higher than what statcounter shows for pageviews.  I am wondering if something is awry with my google analytics code or something.  Plus, my bounce rate is 1.5 percent, which is ridiculously low.  So something must be amiss.

Nah, people love you. ;)

Since we're sharing… my Nov 8 – Dec 8 is skewed like crazy due to the features, so I'll mention last month:

Nov 1 – Nov 30

4678 Visits

3446 Visitors

7068 Pageviews

1.51 Pages/Visit

69.56% Bounce Rate

That's the difference between you and me.  I'd be super happy and question nothing for at least a few days.  You quickly conclude something is broken.  :-)

Well, my page views have been consistently triple since the inception of my website, so it isn't anything new.  I am just now thinking about it since it is different from others.

Also, there is no way in hell my bounce rate should be less than 2 percent when others are 60+ percent.

I can't speak for all your readers, but I always look at multiple pages when I'm on your site.  I check the older posts for replies and then read and comment on your newer one(s).  :-)

OK, because I am a computer-programming maniac that cannot stand a perceived bug, I dug through my source code and found two instances of google analytics.  I believe I must have manually input my analytics code in the beginning, and then used a plug in for analytics later without removing the code I entered previously.

So I removed the analytics code from my header in the theme editor, and I will see what happens to my numbers for tomorrow.  My prediction is big bounce rate, many less pageviews.  (Visitor count should have been unaffected.)

Sorry to drag you all through this.  I really was just looking into my traffic plateauing, then I saw how my data seemed so different from everyone else's and for no apparent reason.  (I was also stalking through some of page source code for some other sites, and they only showed one incidence of Google Analytics code, which proved my case more.)

We will see if this makes a difference.  I will let everyone know!  Thank you one and all!

Although my adsense code is inserted manually, I do use a plugin for Analytics. I tell the plugin to ignore all pageviews from the admin — me. :) Maybe that could have been skewing some of your results.

Actually, it was my adsense code.  I manually added it, and the plugin did too.  So, double the pageviews!  Today so far, my stats are much more realistic.  (Visitors were tracked correctly, it was just the pageviews that were askew, and my bounce rate!)

Even though my site isn't nearly as good as it seemed, I am so glad I am actually getting accurate feedback.

Thanks for all the posts everyone, and I will work on getting off this plateau and start climbing again.

Since people are sharing. I have a much less regular writing schedule. It was interesting to see what others get.

From Nov 1 to Nov 30

Visits: 4143

Unique Visitors: 2536

Page Views: 8352

Avg Page Views: 2.02

Bounce Rate: 67%

New Visits: 55%

I plateau quite often and then there is a boost … If I don't write for a few days than it start droping.

Kris, your numbers are spectacular – especially that bounce rate! It's probably correct…you have a writing style that really draws people in, and they (we) go looking for more!

I guess I'll join in with the traffic stats – actually I wrote a post about it last week comparing October with November: http://knsfinancial.com/novemb…..-11-22-10/

can't speak for my blog as it is still a baby, but based on experience with static content websites, traffic does level off at a certain point, and requires a lot more incremental effort to increase it incrementally.  that is usually a sign to pursue other avenues such as video marketing via youtube, or social media.  what i am noticing with blogs is that a lot of the traffic is hit count from feed submissions, so i wonder if all the numbers truly represent unique human readers/visitors.

Like climbing any steep mountain you get slower as you get higher up…. Takes more effort but you need to rest when you reach flat land before you continue climbing…. Bring traffic gets harder and harder and you reach more plateaus… Keep going though and don't be discouraged by it not moving, it will!

Thank you so much for all your feedback everyone!  As a side note, that extra Google Analytics code in my site was really skewing my results.  My bounce rate is really closer to around 54 percent!
