1) nothing beats selling your own product – i will reemphasize that despite many have mentioned it

2) products that are closely tied to your content

3) similar/complimentary but non competing products (i.e. sell bird seeds as an affiliate if your blog is about bird cages)

4) the most effective = items that you have tried and trusted personally, and which you can speak to in great depth

 

some excellent networks to try out are commission junction and shareasale. panthera is not too bad either
