Traffic trumps Alexa every time, lol.  My Alexa rank is awesome because Yakezie members visit me a lot (I'm guessing).  I love that and am not complaining by any stretch of the imagination (thank you everyone!), but the huge goal of bloggers is to get a ton of traffic, right?  I love my 100 visitors a day, but would also love another 1000 or so.  ;-)

You are right about that, Alexa ranking is easy to manipulate… true visitors are much harder to gain ;-)

I would still like for Crystal to transfer me her site's Alexa ranking. If I could somehow absorb it through osmosis. LOL.

Here you go *mentally shooting it your way and requesting half your traffic back, lol*.  Seriously though, other than the Yakezie challenge, what are the big benefits of having a low Alexa?  I like it because at least I kick butt on at least one ranking, but I don't know if it has any other benefits for me or not…

LOL. deal. Crystal, It's a useful tool for when you are bargaining with advertisers. I would think it also means that a site is popular with tech junkies. I have noticed that a lot of technology and social media blogs have low Alexa rankings.

I will say it is nice to list first when I respond to advertisers (I only list "good" stats, so it's Alexa, followed by Moz, and I barely mention my PR 2, lol).  I didn't know tech junkies liked it – neat!  Thanks!

Advertisors see alexa a lot too I guess. And as Mark said it is super famous with webmasters. I haven't had any direct advertising request, but a couple of days ago I applied for flexoffers. The person who reviews the application emailed me saying that as I have excellent(!) alexa ranking he is prioritizing my blog for the approvals. I don't know if he really meant it or not, but all the 14 programs I applied were approved within a couple of hrs. And my alexa is not even sub 150k. Crystal, if you apply, he might faint and personally do whatever he can to approve you I guess Wink I am another person drooling over your alexa ranking :)

You're welcome! Yep because they are more likely to know about the Alexa toolbar.

Is flexoffers purely affiliate links that pay when people follow through or do they have ads that pay for views and clicks like Adsense?  I'd love to make someone faint to get ad space, but I don't push products well, so pure follow through payouts don't usually work for me.  Amazon is the one exception since I do use them all the time – it's easy to mention what I buy.  :-)  Thanks for mentioning this!

I'll mentally send you some of my Alexa power too.  :-)  I'll also be sure to click on your site more from my home comp…

Flex offer will approve you for most affiliate programs anyway ;-). I got DoNotWait.com approved for many programs while I had a 5,000,000 ranking ;-). They don't have much to lose as long as your blog is not spammy.

Flexoffers pays for conversions. The site visitor has to take some sort of action for you to get paid. This usually means buying a product.

Oh I agree that I am not going to earn any money from flexoffers, but it was the urgency and the praise for my excellent(!) ranking that made me laugh. And I know he went reading my posts because after a day he sent me a detail recommendation on which program would work well for what posts in my site.

I just thought it was funny.

Yes they are affiliates who pay based on some action – sometimes just a click to sometimes buying a premium package. I am not at all good with selling anything. I just applied because I was starting to do my taxes and I know I will write a review of whatever software I end up using. And I thought I should throw those affiliate links in there (same logic as your amazon, so around tax time this should work for you as well. Apply just incase, you never know when you will need it lol). I read that for new blogs they take a lot of time and sometimes reject. So I wanted to apply early and get that sorted when I write my post. While I was applying for the tax related ones, I thought I will just apply for a few more and ended up with 14 applications :) . That is the story behind my flexoffers.

Thanks for the Alexa dust, much appreciated :)

I think in this business you take praise where you can get it.  I am extremely flattered if anybody mentions my Alexa specifically, so I know why you were too Suba.  :-)  Woot for happy blogging days!

Thank you so much for the detail!  That's extremely smart imho since you very probably will get some clicks around tax time.  Great forethought!  Now I need to think about what I want to add in at tax time…
