I'm curious, as a fellow PF blogger and *hopeful* Yakezie member one day, what careers and/or jobs are we all involved in on a day to day basis?
Personally, I'm currently working as an insurance agent (service side, not sales), trying to get into accounting and/or finance and use my Bachelor's degree in Accounting for something other than the pretty piece of paper it is.
Anyone else care to share?

I'm a psychotherapist. I have visions of going back to school for something like accounting, but I probably never will. I really enjoy my career for the most part.

Accounting / Finance related.
SooverDebt – ever considered blogging on psychotherapy? Many are afraid to express they need help – perhaps blogging is a way they can anonymously, yet publicly get help from you and the readership? I'd think this is a concept that can catch fire quick virally….

SEO/SEM strategy for finance firms. It's not nearly as glamorous as lifestyle bloggers lead you to believe.
Working on a finance degree. Want to hang out on/around Wall St. eventually with a CFA.

Accountant–public side not corporate. Basically that means doing tax returns, payroll & bookkeeping services, and consulting.

Controlling/finance/treasury for a fortune 500 company. I enjoy it for the most part, but definitely stresses me out at time!

I used to be a college instructor, but I resigned two months ago. Now, I am a work at home mom taking care of my three kids and blogging, writing and doing virtual assistant work on the side. I don't plan to go back to teaching when the kids are older; I *think* I will continue to pursue writing.

Love this thread idea!
I'm a construction manager for a fortune 500 company. I'm doing some work in San Diego right now, I move around from project to project every two years. I do things like survey layout, 3d model management, financial tracking, and subcontractor baby sitting ;)

I am a magazine editor and graphic designer by day, and a college instructor by night (I mainly teach graphic design-related courses).
And by the way, editors are the WORST for catching their own typos… so please excuse mine!

I'm actually planning another blog related to therapy, but it's tough to get all the details straight in my head. I have to be careful not to provide therapy over the internet – I could lose my license for that. But general information about therapy and mental illness? That I can do. I'm thinking of something geared more toward therapists – information about different techniques and theories – that would allow me to write some ebooks. Right now it's all just random thoughts. I probably won't do anything for awhile!
Sorry for the thread hijack, all!

You are brave!! I think middle school would be the most difficult age to teach.

My husband was a middle school science teacher for 4 years and it was pure hell. He is now a much happier elementary school librarian. You have my best wishes and complete sympathy.

I work at a major public research university handling finance and accounting matters for one of the professional graduate schools.
My side business consists of tax preparation and financial consulting. My goal is to make this my full-time job in the very near future.

Bravery has nothing to do with it! I was displaced and I took the best of what was available. It is a very high performing school which feeds into one of the best high schools in the district. I came from a low performing school, so I will have a chance to do more interesting things. I am staying optimistic1

Many of my high school students were entering freshmen who were 13 years old in the Fall. Many of my students were immature although older. My hih school was low performing and this will be a very high performing middle school. Actually, I am looking forward to try new things I was unable to do at the other school. I have to be optimistic under the circumstances.

Business Analyst (IT), Provincial Government (Ministry of Natural Resources – it's not as "green" as you might think – think fishing, aggregates, forestry, provincial parks, game officers, flood management, fisheries). Mrs. SPF is an Information Management Specialist @ the same place. She wanted to do policy out of school but found her niche.
