As my blog is growing, I have been receiving more offers for sponsored posts. I have not decided what to do with these. On the one hand, I definitely could use the money and most of the sponsored posts do offer valuable tips for my readers. On the other hand, I don't want to look like a sell out or that I am just in it for the money.
I know some bloggers here accept sponsored posts and some choose not to. I would appreciate it if you could give me your opinion as I try to decide what to do. Thanks!

I'm one of the ones that accept sponsored posts. As long as I put at the top who the post is from, I don't feel weird about it. I'm also surprised about how good some of them actually are (like the one for onlineannuityrates.com).
If you do decide to make deals, remember to clarify your terms. I have one price for a link that will last one year, a slightly higher price for two links that last one year, and a big price for up to 2 links that would be permanent. Good luck!

I love sponsored posts. It's easy money and I've always gotten good content out of it.
I've only charged a flat rate for the posts, not different amounts for different numbers of link, and they've always been permanent. I think I'm going to change that. :)

LOL. Yeah, I've only started doing this in the last 3-4 months, so anybody who caught me before that got really lucky, lol.

I don't mind sponsored posts as long as they provide decent content. In general, I am very picky when it comes to someone writing on my site.
I like the idea of having different rates, Crystal. I may do that as well.

I am highly critical of sponsored posts, so if an advertiser want to pay ME to write the post I contemplate it. So far I have only done ONE, so you can tell that my bar is very high…as is my price.

I am not against guest posting, but like some others I have my bar set very high. Unfortunately, all the posts I have got so far has been pretty crappy so I have not done even one of these.

Was just about to ask the same thing. IDK what to do!
Advertiser emailed me yesterday. They want:
- Post with 2 links to their site
- A sitewide link to that post
I was thinking of making the "post" a page, so that it doesn't actually appear to readers. I don't think the advertiser is actually after readers anyway.
This advertiser is actually the same one who bought a text link ad on my site in May 2010, just a few months after I started writing. They paid $600ish. This time, they said they'll pay more.
For an article and 3 total links, I'm thinking minimimum $1,000 for a year. I honestly don't want to lock in rates longer than 6 months because I want more flexibility, but I would if the rate is high enough.

I agree with Crystal. As long as the sponsored post gives good information, I go for it!

I bet I know who this advertiser is. Cash advances by chance?

Hey guys I just want to jump into the convo here. How much would you recommend that I charge for a sponsored post? I have never tried this but would love to give it a shot. Not sure what the going rates are.

That depends on your traffic and rankings.

Can you elaborate? Some of us newer bloggers may have good mozRank and Alexa scores but no PR for example. (were @ 4.02 and 167,658 respectively but 0 PR).
Since many of us have never been approached it would be great if we were prepared to negotiate and that means understanding what we should be asking for!

I hate throwing out numbers in a public venue. I don't want advertisers to use it as a research guide. :)
I started out asking $75, accepting down to $45. Every time I closed a deal, the numbers went up for the next guy until I got high enough that I was shot down flat.

Hello Financial Student!
Would you be willing to share the advertiser's contact email? I'd love to get in on $600-$1,000:):):).
