I can't imagine my blog making as much as my day job, so my goal is

to provide tax, estate and personal information while track my personal progress from broke student to multimillionaire.

The side income just makes the second part a bit easier lol

Sorry, I couldn't resist that great Conan quote!

I want to build up a business that provides helpful content for readers and at the same time provides a full-time income for me and my family.  It's not easy but I'm slowly getting there.

One of the greatest quotes ever! Especially given his accent and his lack of a facial expression when he said it!

My main goal is to become a resource for people looking for financial information. I also want to teach people what the bible says about how we handle our finances.

I want to be able to break down stuffy, intimidating concepts (especially Economics and Investing), and teach them step by step in plain English.

I would love for the blog(s) to be able to support us, so I can be free to offer consulting and other services to people with low incomes!

To provide people better strategies for being frugal all the while maintaining a level of timeless style and elegance in all things in their lives.

I want to be a resource as well as inspiring.

And yes, I do want to make money at this!

Loved this thread, it forced me to define and articulate my blogging goals.

1. Educate, inspire, and motivate for wealth in money and life.

Share with others my extensive personal and professional finance information. Break down complex pf concepts with numerical examples into easily digestible concept articles.

2. Use it as a platform accumulating readers for a series of personal finance books I am writing.

3. Interact with other bloggers and readers.

4. Make some money, (by 2013), $15-20K per year.

Wow Barb, I assumed you were already a money maker!

Will your books be electronic or bound and published?

I'm actually pretty happy with my blog where it is. If it grew too much larger I'm not sure I'd be able to keep up. As a hobby it's great. Some more revenue certainly would't hurt at all, but I want to keep it balanced so the site doesn't become too commercial.

@MITR – Dude, you probably have way more active readers than you think you do.  It's weird, really, but every once in a while a new reader will pop out of the woodwork at my blog to leave a comment.  A couple of others will go 3-4 weeks without commenting and I start to think I lost them, but they show up again.  So, I guess I mean to say, you have readers, for sure.  Problem is getting them to comment.

If anyone has any recommendations/tips to that end (getting comments) I'm all ears.

I was told that asking questions encourages comments. Even something as simple as, "what do you think?"

To answer the topic, my goal is to generate 1k a month by the 1 year anniversary, 2k a month by the 2 year anniversary, 3k a month… well you get the idea. To do that I plan to create several proprietary products, accept sponsored posts, and increase affiliate sales. That will be across all of my niche sites and the blog. I plan to create one to two more niche sites before the end of the year.

As far as goals for the overal blog, my goal is to be able to help people who are just getting out of college or are in college with information that I didn't learn until I went through the lessons myself.

I also would like to speak on finance like Suze Orman (but not so brash) to inner city high school students and middle school aged students so they will be motivated to major in finance or accounting.

And finally, I'd like to be able to eventually support myself fully from this growing business within 4 years.

Whew! That seems like a lot, I better get back to work!
